Sophia C. Marquardt, 86, passed away Friday Aug. 17, 2007, at Appleton Medical Center. She was born Feb. 2, 1921, to the late Fred and Helen (Veith) Skalitzky in Waterloo, Wis. On Dec. 28, 1940, she married George Marquardt in Shawano. Sophia enjoyed gardening and putting together puzzles of any kind. Sophia is survived by her husband, George four sons, George Jr., David (Deb), Donald and Jeffrey Marquardt two daughters, Judith Sternhagen and Kathleen Marquardt four grandchildren, Lee Sternhagen and Susan Feavel, Karen (Rick) Lyons and Connor Marquardt 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by a sister, Angelene (Milton) Marquardt a brother, Phillip Skalitzky and many nieces and nephews. Sophia is preceded in death by six brothers and sisters-in-law, Frederick Skalitzky, Ferdinand (Bernice) Skalitzky, Alvin Skalitzky, Calestine (Loretta) Skalitzky, Benedict and Henry Skalitzky three sisters and brothers-in-law, Nellie (Maynard) Marquardt, Elizabeth Skalitzky, Lucy (Harvey) Jorgensen, and a granddaughter, Roxanne Maker. Funeral Services for Sophia will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday Aug. 20, 2007, at Valley Funeral Home with Fr. David Belongia officiating. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. until the times of services.
