He was born Dec. 5, 1925, in Nappanee to Samuel C. and Amanda (Borkholder) Chupp. On Oct. 20, 1955, he married Esther Miller in Nappanee. She survives along with six sons, Howard (Nora) Chupp, Wayne (Melissa) Chupp, Floyd (Lori) Chupp, Loren (Karen) Chupp, Carl (Lily) Chupp, all of Nappanee, and Glen (Wanita) Chupp of Goshen; five daughters, Ruth Chupp, Rosemary (Martin) Yoder and Loretta (Howard) Miller, all of Nappanee, Linda (Floyd E.) Yoder of Bonduel, Wis., and Emma Burkholder of Salem, Ind.; 51 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John Chupp of Goshen a nd Levi (Mary) Chupp of Etna Green; four sisters, Anna (Elmer) Byler and Barbara (Ray) Burkholder, both of Nappanee, and Verna (Gideon) Bontrager and Elizabeth (Ralph) Miller, both of Goshen; and a half-sister-inlaw, Ella Chupp o f Middlebury. He was preceded in death by a son, John Dale Chupp; a son-in-law, Wayne Burkholder; three grandchildren, Joe Dean Chupp, Leann Chupp and Mary Kay Chupp; a brot her, Harvey Chupp; a sister, Amanda Chupp; half-brothers Eli, Joseph and Emanuel Chupp; and half-sisters Mattie Hershberger, Lydia Ann Chupp and Katie Burkholder. Mr. Chupp was a lifetime area resident and member of the Old Order Amish Church. He was a retired farmer and carpenter. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today and all day Saturday at the family home. The funeral service will be at 9:30 a.m. Sunday at the Howard Miller home, 30695 C. R. 150. Bishop Al Borkholder will officiate, with burial in Borkholder Cemetery. Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, 950 N. Main St., Nappanee, is assisting with arrangements.
