LAWRENCE A. DENNIS Dr. Lawrence A. Dennis, a retired Milwaukie physician, died Sept. 21, 1996, at age 81. A memorial service was held Sept. 25 in Riverview Abbey. Dr. Dennis was born March 16, 1915, in Monico, Wis. He graduated from Chicago Osteopathic College in 1938 and practiced in small towns in Wisconsin. He built his own hospital in Bonduel, Wis., where he established one of the country's first blood banks. He moved to Oregon in 1955. He set up practice in Albany and established clinics in Jefferson and Vernonia. He moved to Milwaukie where he practiced until he retired in 1989. In his more than 50 years in medicine, Dr. Dennis opened several facilities to help new osteopathic physicians. He was a principle in the development and construction of Eastmoreland Hospital where be later became chief of staff. He performed one of the first Cesarean section births by hypnosis. A pilot for more than 30 years, he participated in the Great London to Victoria Air Race in 1971. Dr. Dennis also was an elder in the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; 11 children; 21 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
