Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 29, 2000, in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. Burial in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home, with a rosary at 7 p.m., and at the chapel after 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. Elsie is survived by three children: daughter, Virginia Steinbach and husband Lee of Las Vegas, Nev., two sons, Albert Hartl Sr. and wife Myrna of Albia, Iowa, and Raymond Hartl and wife Susie of Marion, as well as seven grandchildren, including Danny and Tim Holmes of Las Vegas, Nev., Albert Hartl Jr. of Marion, Richard Hartl of Cedar Rapids, Lisa Draeger of Roanoke, Texas, Carla Hartl of Oxford, Iowa, and John Hartl of Springville, Iowa; 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Lisetta Euler and husband Elmer of Antigo, Wis., several nieces, nephews and many of her bingo pals in Las Vegas. Her husband, Leonard Klett, two daughters, Rosetta Hartl and Irma Holmes, a sister, Magdolin Quick, and two brothers, Emil and Walter Fischer, preceded Elsie in death. The daughter of Albert and Louise Fischer, Elsie was born March 20, 1914, in Bonduel, Wis. She was employed by Wilson/Farmstead in Cedar Rapids for 32 years prior to retirement. Since retiring Elsie has enjoyed spending time fishing and playing bingo. Elsie was a go-getter whose eternal fearlessness and determination has motivated and inspired members of her family from generation to generation. Though she is gone, her fiery spirit will live on forever; she will be missed by all.
