MAKI, 82 LUNENBURG -- Urho E. Maki, 82, of 242 Sunset Lane, formerly of Fitchburg, a retired papermaker, died Thursday, April 5, in Fairlawn Nursing Home, Leominster, after a short illness. His wife, Bernice L. (Hier) Maki, died Jan. 18. He leaves two sons, Earl H. Maki of Bonduel, Wis., and Bruce W. Maki of Fitchburg; a daughter, Diane E. Anderson of Fitchburg; a brother, Olavi Maki of Fitchburg; a sister, Mildred Konstenius of Fitchburg; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Fitchburg, son of Emil H. and Mandi (Ruusukallio) Maki, and lived there most of his life before moving to Lunenburg in 1985. Mr. Maki was a papermaker more than 20 years at Fitchburg Paper Co., retiring in 1981. Previously, he worked for Boston/Maine Railroad Co., Fitchburg. He was a member of Twin City Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 9, in Twin City Baptist Church, 194 Electric Ave. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Fitchburg. A calling hour is 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, April 9, in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Heart Association, 20 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701; or to American Diabetes Society, 1 Bromfield St., 5th Floor, Boston, MA 02108.
