"Jerry" Piehl HANAHAN - The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald H. "Jerry" Piehl are invited to attend the Memorial service of the former Wednesday, July 12th, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at Carolina Memorial Funeral Home, North Charleston. Burial will be private. He was born January 28, 1933, in Eland, Wisconsin, to the late Fritz Piehl and Vera Engel. He was an Air Force pilot and, during his 20-year career, he flew C-130s, with over 120 missions during the Vietnam War. He retired as a Major in 1972. Then, after 20 years of service as a carrier, he retired from the United States Postal Service. He loved traveling, bowling, camping, trips to the beach, gem mining and was a member of the Rockhounds. He was Lutheran in faith. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Piehl of Hanahan; a daughter, Dawn Tsai and her husband, Claude, of Marlborough, MA; a son, Dr. Fred Piehl and his wife, Jeannie, of Columbia; and four grandchildren, Severin and Tyler Piehl and Kelsey and Stephen Tsai. He was predece! ased by his brother, Frederick Charles Piehl. The family would like to thank the Lutheran Hospice for their support and kindness.
