John C. Lacy, 66, De Pere, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2009, at a local hospital. He was born in Appleton. on Aug. 26, 1942, a son of the late James and Eleanor Lacy. He was raised in a family of two brothers and two sisters, Tom, "Jimmy" Jr., Sandra, and Anne Marie. They moved to Shawano when John was a boy. He graduated from Shawano High School, and also attended NWTC. On March 31, 1990, John married Sandy J. (Schreiber) Hockers in Green Bay. He was a master builder and finish carpenter involved with home construction in Shawano, where he had owned his own business, and worked with Gene Mahy, and in Green Bay, as the owner of Lacy Builders. He had also been an over-the-road truck driver when he wasn't building homes. John was a member of Carpenters Union local 1146, Green Bay, and had been a member of the N.R.A. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in Oneida and Vilas counties. John was a very hard-working man; he was unselfish, helpful, giving, and supportive. He was devoted to his wife, his children, and other family members, as well as friends. He was not only a father, but also a friend and mentor to his son, "J.R." John is survived by his wife, Sandy; and son, "J.R." (John Russell) Lacy, De Pere; two daughters, Kelly Lacy, and Kim (Tom) Marquardt, and granddaughter, Cambria Brooke Marquardt, all of Shawano; sister-in-law, Mary (Dan) Davis, Reeds Spring, Mo.; his siblings; other relatives; and special friends, Clark and Jeanne Trousil, and Richard and Lois Vander Heiden. Family and friends may call at Cotter Funeral Home, 860 N. Webster Ave., De Pere, on Thursday, March 19, 2009, from 4 until 7 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday at 7 p.m. with Rev. Dave Wilkinson, of First United Methodist Church, Green Bay, officiating. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.
