Griswold Wayne H. Griswold, age 73, of Fremont, died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 1, 2005 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born on May 22, 1931 in the Town of Dale, the son of the late Frank and Martha (Danke) Griswold. On October 20, 1956 he was united in marriage to Joyce Riske in Waupaca. He resided at the home of his birth for his entire life. Wayne served his country in the US Army and then returned to farming on the family farm. He also worked at Fox Tractor Company as a welder, and in 1985 he went on to finish his working career at Oshkosh Truck, retiring in January of 1998. One of Dad's favorite statements was "Do something, even if it's wrong, do something!" He was a master of taking a piece of steel and creating a work of art. He took great pride in his ability to put in an honest days work and know that he had done the best job he could do. He always gave his all to the task at hand. Wayne was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Dale where he sang in the choi! r, served on the church council and was a past chairman. He was also a member of UAW Local 578 Union, the Hortonville American Legion Post and was President of the Pine Grove Cemetery Board. He enjoyed woodworking, welding, hunting, gardening, cooking in the woods, logging and playing solitaire. Wayne is survived by his wife, Joyce, his children, Jane (James R.) Cuff, Waupaca, and their children, Jennifer, Jason, Jesse (Heidi) and Jaclyn, Carver (Sally), Ogdensburg and their children, Bethany, Rebecca, Rochelle and Cassandra and Carver, Jr. Gale (Brenda), Fremont, and their children, Wayne "Buzz", Brandon and Amanda, Connie (Jeff) Springer, Hazelhurst, and their children, Cassidy and William, Georgia (Richard) Dey, New London, and their children, Kaitlyn and Kally and Sara (Randy) Zeinert and their daughter, Morgan Mae, a great-grandson, Andrew also survives. Wayne is further survived by 2 sisters, Virginia Seefeld, New London, and Lola (Donald) Kaczor, Cecil, and a brother! , Loren (Mary Ellyn) Griswold, Bonduel, his godchildren, Tricia, Terry Jo and Buzzy, and a special friend, Kevin McKee. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many special friends. Wayne was preceded in death by a daughter, Amanda on January 19, 1974, his parents, and a step brother and step-sister. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 7, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Zion United Church of Christ. Rev. Virgie Davis will officiate. Military rites will be presented by Hortonville American Legion Post #55. Friends may call at the Lewin Funeral Home on Thursday, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Wayne's family would like to thank Dr. Peterson, Robin, the ER staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Dr. Geller, Dr. Avery and Dr. Sampica for their care and concern during this difficult time.
