Born on Aug. 8, 1939 in Milwaukee, he was the son of the late George and Dorothy (Ganiere) Salfer. Michael was a proud member of the United States National Guard. On Nov. 23, 1963 he was united in marriage to Corrine Krusa in Milwaukee. Together the couple lived in the Milwaukee area until moving to Shawano three years ago. Michael was a member of the St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cecil where he worked in the church pantry. He was a former member of the St. Rita Catholic Church in Milwaukee where he was past president of the Holy Name and Usher Group. Michael was also active in West Allis Charities. Michael is survived by: his wife of 45 years, Corrine; six children, Dawn (Tim) Rehberger of Milwaukee, Scott (Christine Crabtree) Salfer of Gresham, Todd Salfer of Muskego, Troy (Joell) Salfer of New Berlin, Jill (Tom) Grice of Red River, Chad Salfer of Milwaukee; twelve grandchildren; two brothers, Richard (Gloria) Salfer and Tim Salfer all of Milwaukee; one sister, Ann Etchison of Waukesha; and a sister-in-law, Betty Salfer of West Allis. Michael was preceded in death by: his parents; a brother, George; and a sister-in-law, Dolly Salfer. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 11 at the Krause Funeral Home at 124th and National in New Berlin. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday after 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
