Ardella M. Raaths, 92, Shawano, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000 at Shawano. She was born March 2, 1907, in Green Valley to the late John and Mabel (Lutsey) Berg. She graduated from Advance School and Oconto Falls High School and Teacher's Training. Ardella married William A. Raaths in Bonduel June 4, 1928. She taught school for two years. The couple farmed in the Town of Angelica until 1968 when they moved to Shawano. Ardella worked as a custodian at Shawano High School for nine years, and a volunteer at Heartland Healthcare Center of Shawano, and the Civic Center, Shawano. William preceded her in death Sept. 4, 1984. Ardella was a member of St. Paul Ev. Luth. Church, Zachow, for over 70 years she had been President and Secretary of St. Paul's Ladies Aid, Secretary of Shawano Golden Agers, Secretary of AARP, member of Country Neighbors Homemakers, a 4-H Leader for 19 years, and she taught Sunday School. Survivors include a son, William (Natalie) Raaths, Menasha four daughters, Inez ( Eldon) Troge, Green Bay Ardis (Kenton) Stewart, Buffalo, N.Y. Maryl (Jim) Nelsen, Green Bay and Carol (Jim) Vanden Plas, Green Bay 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren two sisters, Esther Eckerson, Stevens Point and Orriene (Curt) Magee, Bonduel four sisters-in-law, Anabel Berg, Cecil Adeline Berg, Oshkosh Carrie Berg, Green Valley and Eve Berg, Green Bay. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Pearl a granddaughter four brothers and three sisters. Funeral Service will be Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Ev. Luth. Church, Zachow, with the Rev. Philip Geiger officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Wendt Funeral Home, Bonduel, Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. to the time of service.
