Laska Roman J. Laska, 80, formerly of Weston, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. Roman was born Aug. 4, 1925, to the late Joseph and Martha (Gabor) Laska. He was married to Angeline Delikowski on May 6, 1944. She preceded him in death Sept. 25, 2002. Roman worked at ForeWay Express as a truck driver until retirement. Since then he enjoyed fishing, gardening and hunting. Roman looked forward to the steam tractor show in Edgar every year. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and the Northcentral Wisconsin Antique Steam and Gas Engine Club. Roman is survived by his four daughters, Janet (Peter) Barwick, Menasha, Nancy (Guy) Fredel, Mosinee, Shirley (Greg) Hahn, Aniwa, and Audrey Biard, Mosinee; three sons, Gerald (Janet) Laska, Ringle, LeRoy Laska, Weston, and James (Mary) Laska, Rothschild; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; six sisters, Esther (Clifford) Kolpack, Annette (Chuck) Gilbert, Celia (Ron) Gorski, Lucy Kleman, Agnes Czudeck and Marion (Phillip) Cherek; and one brother, Richard (Lillian) Laska. Along with his wife, Angeline, his brothers, Stanley, Chester, Ervin, Tony, Hubert and Joseph Laska Jr. also preceded Roman in death. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hayden-Buettgen Funeral Home in Schofield. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, and will continue at 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Edward Welch will officiate. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in the town of Kronenwetter. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at the Harbor House for their care and support.
