Becker Lena A. Becker, 87, Athens, died peacefully Monday, Aug. 1, 2005, at the Hospice House in Wausau. She was born June 10, 1918, in the town of Halsey, daughter of the late Henry and Elsie (Becker) Adams. On July 3, 1937, she married Henry F. Becker at Trinity Lutheran Church in Athens. He preceded her in death April 5, 1983. Lena and her husband farmed in the town of Halsey until retiring in 1973. She enjoyed baking and word search puzzles, but her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include three daughters, Judy (James) Rodman Ulrick, Athens, Jeani (Wayne) Brown, Indianapolis, and Jane (Daniel) Schaefer, Athens; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and eight sisters, Hilda Schultz, Marshfield, Viola Sellung, Ashland, Mildred Tadysch, Chicago, Margaret (Sylvester) Holbach, Aniwa, Germaine Dietsch, Green Bay, Mae (Les) Wetmore, Wisconsin Rapids, Delores (Mike) Denzine, Wausau, and Alvina "Dolly" Whiteside, Ottawa, Canada. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Lyle Becker; one great-granddaughter and two brothers. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2005, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Athens. The Rev. Donn Radde will officiate. Burial will be in the Athens Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home in Athens and again from 10 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the church. There will be an 8:15 p.m. prayer service tonight at the Athens funeral home. Lena's family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the volunteers and staff at the Hospice House for the loving care given to her during her stay.
