Henrietta R. Peters, 80, N4399 Capitol Dr., Town of Belle Plaine, Shawano, passed away Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at her home. She was born on Jan. 18, 1920, in Shawano, the daughter of the late Edward and Amanda (Moede) Gast. On Feb. 14, 1942, she was united in marriage to Arthur M. Peters at the Bonduel United Methodist Church. Arthur preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 1997. She and her husband owned and operated a farm for many years and she was a good community leader. Henrietta was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church, Red River, where she served as treasurer of United Methodist Women, a Lay Speaker and served on the Pastor Parish Parsonage Committee. She was a member of the Shawano County Farm Bureau for over 28 years and served on the Board of Directors. Henrietta was Superintendent of Food and Nutrition at the Shawano County Fair and Membership Chairman. Henrietta received the Shawano County Fair Woman of the Year Award in 1999 and was active with the Fair Board ! for over 20 years. She is survived by one son, Mel Peters, Thomson, Ga. three sisters, Elfrieda (Lewis) Mehlhorn, Shawano Charlotte (Clarence) Mehlhorn, Phoenix, Ariz. Maryln (Calvin) Kirchenwitz, Sheboygan one brother, Charles (Ruth) Gast, Phoenix, Ariz. and one sister-in-law, Sylvia Gast, Shawano. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Edmund and Hubert Gast. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Aug. 24, 2000, at Salem United Methodist Church, Red River, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Jim Christensen officiating. Burial will be at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Shawano. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000. at the Swedberg Funeral Home, Shawano and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church until time of services.
