Ethel E. Beyer, age 97, of Marion, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2009, at the Evergreen Care Center, Shawano. Ethel was born on August 24, 1912, in Omro, WI, the daughter of the late Louis and Rose (Pojak) Deak. She later moved with her family to Bowler then to Gresham areas. On April 24, 1935, Ethel was united in marriage to Louis J. Beyer at the St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Symco. The couple farmed in the Township of Little Wolf, Waupaca County until their retirement. In 1961 they moved to Marion where they lived the rest of their married life. Mr. Beyer preceded his wife in death on August 28, 1972. Ethel had been employed at the Johnson Restaurant, Bergacker Bakery, Sanderfoot Restaurant and had retired from Wisconsin Power and Light Company all of Marion. Her hobbies included fishing, bowling, ceramics, making afghans, sewing, crafts, playing cards and bingo. She was a charter member of the Marion Lioness Club and a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Marion. Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Hein, Marion; her foster daughter, Angeline "Angie" Rogers, Neenah; her step daughter-in-law, Betty Beyer, Indiana; two grandchildren: Brenda Hein, Madison; Brian (Lisa) Hein, LaCrosse; her step-grandchild: C. J. Beyer, Mt. Vernon, Indiana; five great-grandchildren: Maximilian, Amelia and Abigail Hein, LaCrosse; Jessica and Heather Thorson, Madison; foster grandchildren: Susan (Bill) Rubick, Larson; Jeffrey Glomstead, Fremont (Fiance': Cindy Grunewald, Oshkosh); Audrey (Pat) Rankin, Neenah; Ginger Glomstead, Chicago; foster great-grandchildren: Johanna (Stan) Ciske, Menasha; Jill (David) Hatton, Oshkosh; Ashley and Josh Rankin, Neenah; foster great-great-grandchild, Calvin Ciske, Menasha; two sisters: Erma Jeske and Alice Ernst, Shawano; nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Louis, her sisters: Aurellia Hasse and Lillie Starcheske; her brothers: Louis, Julius "Steve" and John Deak, her stepson, James Beyer; a foster great-grandson, Nathaniel Ciske; her son-in-law, Elroy Hein and a foster son-in-law, Neil Rogers. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 16, 2009, at the St. John's Lutheran Church, Marion with Rev. Gisele Berninghaus officiating. Interment will be in the Greenleaf Cemetery, Marion.
