Born on May 3, 1921 in Gresham, he was the son of the late William C. and Caroline "Lena" (Neumeier) Otto. Hilary was a member of the first graduating class of Gresham High School in 1938. After graduation he worked for 4 years at The State Bank in Gresham. He was then appointed the rural carrier for the Gresham Post Office and carried mail until retiring in 1977 due to poor health. On Feb. 9, 1946 he was united in marriage to Rosetta Ziereis; she preceded him in death on Dec. 18, 1994. Hilary served as clerk for the Village of Gresham and also served as a trustee for the St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Gresham where he was a member. On Nov. 10, 2007 he married Barb Echtner. Hilary is survived by: his wife, Barb; two sons, Steven (Cindy) Otto of Neenah, Scott (Peggy) Otto of Bonduel; three grandsons, Kirk Bahr of Shawano, Dean Otto of Neenah, Will Otto of Neenah; great-grandson, Brennan Otto of Neenah; brother, Vern Otto of Leopolis; and sister, Gladys (Joe) Pleshek of Waupaca. Hilary was preceded in death by: his first wife, Rosetta; his parents; two brothers, Leo Otto, Lloyd Otto; and three sisters, Lucille Pecore, Loretta Schroeder, and Katherine Pecore. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, at the St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church in Gresham with the Rev. Bob Rank and the Rev. David Barrett officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Friday after 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
