He died in a Hillsboro foster care home Friday of congestive heart failure. He was 97. Mr. Henningsen was born Sept. 13, 1893, in Shawano, Wis., and lived in Montana and Portland before moving to Hillsboro in 1943. He was a rancher and berry farmer in the Pumpkin Ridge area of Washington County and also planted trees and cut holly for the department of forestry. Mr. Henningsen served in the U.S. Army during World War I. He was a member of the American Legion in Montana, of granges in Montana and Hillsboro and of Old Scotch Church. His wife, Sylvia, died in 1979. Surviving are sons, Robert of St. Helens, William of Akron, Ohio, and Richard of Hillsboro; daughters, Jeanne Gentzkow of Cornelius and Judy Crocker of Friday Harbor, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. The family suggests that remembrances be contributions to the Old Scotch Church Memorial Fund. Burial will be in Old Scotch Church Cemetery in Hillsboro.
