Jean D. Wagner, age 87, of Chilton, died on Saturday, August 1, 2009, at the Chilton Care Center in Chilton. She was born June 29, 1922, in Bonduel, daughter of the late August & Frieda (Stanelle) Moede. Jean graduated from Green Bay East High School in 1939 and then attended Nursing School at St. Scholastica in Duluth, MN where she graduated in 1944. Shortly following her graduation, she volunteered in the United States Army as a nurse. She married Lyle Wagner on December 11, 1954, at the First Methodist Church in Green Bay and continued her nursing at Our Lady of Charity until retiring in the early 1980's. Lyle preceded her in death in 1985. She was a founding member of Atonement Lutheran Church in Green Bay, and a longtime member of both the Rebekah's, and The Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. Survivors include her children: Ken (Debra) Wagner of Chilton, Richard (Patrice) Wagner of Appleton; two grandchildren: Alex & Samuel; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law: Joyce Moede of Atlanta, Donald (Mable) Wagner of Pulaski, Sharon Wagner of Green Bay; and a very special friend: Calla Steinfeldt of Green Bay. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother: William Moede. Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2009, at the Atonement Lutheran Church (2132 Deckner Ave) in Green Bay. Burial will be in the Nicolet Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the church from 9:30 AM until 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2009. Wieting Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
