Depending on the dialect used by the person pronouncing this word it may sound to American ears as "bockish". The meaning of the word describes a person who is stubborn and bucks against the rules. The German noun "Bock" translates as buck, ram, or billy-goat. Bockig is the adjective of this word and means stubborn, obstinate or pigheaded. "Bockig" is still used in German today.
