SUMNER (April 25, 1912 - January 4, 1996) John H. Sumner, 83, of Wolcott died Thursday at home. Mr. Sumner was a native of Corfu. He was a dairy farmer for many years and served 10 years as Butler town justice. Mr. Sumner was a graduate of Cornell University. Mr. Sumner raised horses and entered his draft horse teams at county fair horse pulls. Surviving are his wife, Helen; eight children: Dorothy Wilcox of Georgia, Joan Sauer of Long Island, John Sumner of Shawano, Wis., Dallas Sumner of Baldwinsville, Mary Sumner of Newark, and Patricia Guthrie, Diane Noyes and Sharon Rising, all of North Rose; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Farnsworth & Son Funeral Home, North Rose. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, 5019 Main St. Memorial contributions may be made to Genesee Regional Home Care, 513 W. Union St., Box 71, Newark.
