MEYER of Shawano passed away on Wed. Aug. 5, 2009 a few days after her 94th birthday at Manor Care of Shawano, where she had resided for the past 3 years. Iloe Delchen Guethlein was born on July 30, 1919, spending her early years in Baraboo, WI. on the farm of her parents John & Marie Guethlein. She loved the birds, flowers and enjoyed playing the piano and singing the music of the 30's & 40's. Her favorite singing partner was her husband of 63 years Royal E. Meyer who preceded her in death six years ago. She and Royal were united in marriage on Sept. 28, 1940 after she had taught for a short time at the Shawano High School. Following their marriage it was off to a variety of places as the wife of an insurance salesman including, Two RIvers, Manitowoc and St. Germain where Royal also served as a Lay Minister. The Meyers also spent several years in Florida and Arizona before returning to Wisconsin to be closer to their family. During those later years Iloe was content to be home with her mate preparing meals, singing, tending her flowers and playing piano. She and Royal were strong in their faith in God and raised their two children to love the Lord and walk closely with him as well.. Her "Chipper" spirit and sense of humor will be sadly missed and fondly remembered. Survivors Include: Son: Steve (Linda) Meyer, Shawano Daughter Jeanne Meyer. Green Bay. Grandchildren: Sharon, Michael, Neal, and Carl and many nieces and nephews including her eldest sister's daughter: Betty Thiessen of Baraboo. A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 10, 2009 at 2:00PM at the Peace United Church of Christ, Shawano with Pastor Marty Black, officiating. Friends may call after 1:00PM at the Church until the time of services. Memorial gifts may be designated to the Gideons International and will be used to purchase and place Bibles in the USA and around the world in Iloe's honor Schroeder-Mickelson Funeral Service of Shawano assisted the family.
