Schmidt Lois A. Schmidt (nee Springborn) age 75, of Shawano, died on Monday evening, Aug. 10, 2009 in her home, surrounded by her family. She had a long and courageous fight with cancer. Lois was born on Aug. 17, 1934 in Shawano, a daughter of the late Ralph and Jeanette (Page) Springborn. On Oct. 25, 1952 she married Arthur F. Schmidt at St Paul's Lutheran Church, Stony Hill. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Shawano. Lois had been employed at the Shawano Medical Center and also for many years at Maple Lane Health Care Center as an LPN. He husband preceded her in death on June 25, 2005. She is a member of St James Lutheran Church of Shawano. Lois loved to exercise as well as socialize with her good friends from Clintonville who gave her much love and support. Survivors include: three children, Barbara Schmidt (special friend Cas Zielewski) of Texas, Robert (Victoria) Schmidt of Tilleda and Debra (Keith) Alft of Tigerton; she was blessed with nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Pat Schroeder; Jackie (Wally) DuPont and Sandy Springborn; two brothers, Gary (Rita) Springborn and Bill (Gayle) Springborn; she is further survived by three sisters-in-law; Florence Schmidt, Lorraine Schmidt and Violet Paiser; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Lois will be held on Friday, Aug. 14 at 11 a.m. at St James Lutheran Church of Shawano. Pastor Ron Raddant will officiate. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Shawano. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 9 a.m. until the hour of service. Memorials in her name may be directed to the Theda Care at Home Hospice.
