Survivors include two sons, Donald (Jean) Kautza and Norbert (Rosella) Kautza, all of Aniwa; two daughters, Carmen (Arthur) Person, Antigo and Lorraine (Earl) Luedtke, Peshtigo; one brother, Sam Wegner, New London; 18 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held March 7, 1978 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Aniwa. The Rev. John Hephner officiated. Interment was in the parish cemetery. On April 21, 1953, she was united in marriage to Frank Hable in Phlox. The couple later divorced. Joan had worked for Weinbrenner Factory Shoe, Antigo for a short time. After retiring from the family farm she was employed at the former B&B Café, Birnamwood and the Homme Youth and Family Programs, Wittenberg. She was then a foster grandmother for the Antigo School District. Joan was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church, Antigo and the Christian Mothers Society. She was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to music and playing the piano and drums. She also enjoyed cooking, Bingo and playing cards, often using her famous quote ?I paid!? Joan also had her ?Masters Degree? as a ?Domestic Engineer?.
