Born November 16, 1917 in Navarino, WI. to Harry and Ida Eng. Edna taught Country School in Wisconsin for 7 years. She joined the US Women's Ma- rines in 1944, where she served her country as Sergeant for 2 years during WWII. After her time in the Marines, she worked for the Veteran's Administration in Boise, Idaho where she and her husband Richard married on July 3, 1947. Richard worked with the Federal Aviation Associ- ation for 25 years. His job trans- ferred him to Burbank, CA. and Edna took a clerical job with the City of Burbank. They moved to Red Bluff in 1958. Besides her love and devotion to her family, her primary hobby was painting, and she was an active member of the Red Bluff Art Association for many years. She will indeed be missed by all who knew her. Edna is survived by her god- daughter, Bonnie Durks of McFarland WI., 2 nieces, 2 nephews, close friend and exec- utor of her estate, Sue Williams, many lifelong friends in the Red Bluff Art Association, and her dear friends and neighbors in Red Bluff. Edna was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 25 years, Richard McHugh, her parents, Harry and Ida Eng, 1 brother, 1 sister, and 1 niece. There will be a private burial at St. Mary's Cemetery. Meyer, 67, died in his sleep Feb. 19, 2008, at home. A memorial celebration of Gator's life and potluck will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday at Riverside Park in Anderson. Honorary pallbearers will be Ted Meyer, Lance Meyer, Jayden Meyer, Dean Wilson, Mike Gott and Les Mortenson. Gator was born Jan. 10, 1941, in Navarino, Wis., to Herbert and Lilyan Meyer on their family dairy farm. He arrived to Alaska in 1965 and only left the state he loved twice. Gator was employed at Clear Air Force Station as a teamster in the warehouse for more than 33 years until he retired in 1997. "The two great loves of his life were his family and the great outdoors," his family wrote. Gator held life membership in the Alaska Trappers Association, National Trappers Association, Fur Takers of America, Alaska Outdoor Council, National and Alaska State Chapter of Foundation for North America Wild Sheep, National Rifle Association, Ruffed Grouse Society and the Clear Sky Sportsmen Club. He was the Alaska Trapper of the Year in 1987 and inducted into the Alaska Trapper Association Hall of Fame in 2000. His family also wrote: "Gator was kind and generous to a fault with donations of his artwork and financial support to the organizations he loved and his community. He was a well-known artist who created antler carvings of the Alaskan animals and outdoor scenes he loved." As one of his dear friends recently wrote: "Gator was one of those people who lived life on a grand scale, and I'll never forget his hunting and trapping stories told with relish to every person who came into his shop. He never did things halfway." Gator was preceded in death by his sister, Maxine Pentecost. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Daryl Meyer; sons and daughter-in-law, Ted and Krystal Meyer, and Lance Meyer; and grandchildren, Hunter, Madison, Jayden and Talyn Meyer. He fought a long and courageous fight with heart and lung disease for 29 years. Don spent his early years growing up around the Green Bay, WI area. He moved to California in the early 50's then relocated to North Chicago, IL in 1959, where he met and married his wife Mavis in 1960. In 1961 Don started Jack-Son Auto Sales Inc. in Waukegan where he remained President until 2008. In 1970, he was the very first car dealer to move from the lakefront downtown car dealer area to Green Bay Rd where car dealer row is located today. The dealership was originally located at the lakefront on Sheridan Road, on the curve just south of Belvedere Road. He was a Simca dealer in 1970 (a Chrysler Import car) and Waukegan's Subaru dealer as well. Don also was the Rupp snowmobile, mini-bike, and go-cart dealer in Waukegan from 1971-1972. He and former Waukegan Mayor Sabonjian were featured together several times in the Waukegan News Sun, because he and the mayor loved toys and did promotions together with them. Don and the mayor also were the first to cut the ribbon and take the first inaugural ride in Don's 1926 Ford Model T Doctors Coupe, to celebrate the new over pass that was built on Rte 43 (Waukegan Rd) over Belvedere Road, by Lakehurst that connected the south end o! f 43 to northbound 41. Donald's hard work of 48 years and achievements made him Lake County's Oldest and Largest Used Car Dealer in the State of Illinois. He was also a member of the Waukegan Elks Lodge 702 for over 40 years and a member of St Patrick's Church on Wadsworth. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mavis (nee, Johnson); sons, Scott (Renee), Stuart (Julie), and Brian (Lori); daughter, Connie (Bob) Besanson; daughter-in-law, Suzanne (Steven); grandchildren he loved with all his heart, Andrew, Eric, Jack, Zach, Sarah, Lily, Nathan Clark, Brett Clark, Addison Clark, Lisa Besanson, and Robert Besanson; his sister, Barbara (Paul) Uttormark; one uncle, Monte (Joyce) Landsverk; great-grandchildren, cousins, nephews, and friends. Stephanie married Andrew (Drew) Hanson III on July 2, 2006, at the backyard prairie of their Madison home. She was employed as a research epidemiologist at the Paul P. Carbone Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Stephanie is survived by her husband, Drew; daughter, Gwenevere (Gwen) Hanson; sister, Jennifer Kaufman Fourness and brother-in-law, Evan Fourness of Chandler, Ariz.; father, Jack Kaufman of Eland; mother, Marilyn Kaufman of Sheboygan; grandparents, Mervil and Minnie Kaufman of Eland; grandmother, Kathryn Jensen of Birnamwood; parents-in-law, Lois and Andrew Hanson Jr. of Marinette; brother and sister-in-law, Scott Hanson and Abbey Thompson of Middleton; sister-in-law, Sheila Hanson of Madison; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Roger Jensen; and aunt, Merle Kaufman. Stephanie earned her bachelor of science degree in sociology and psychology and a master of science degree in population health sciences, both at UW-Madison. She was an avid reader and dedicated mother who enjoyed spending time outdoors with her family. Her honesty, intelligence and giggles were preeminent characteristics appreciated by all those who knew and loved her. Her body will be committed to the eternal cycle of life on Earth through a private burial at her family' s farm in Eland. TIGERTON - Eldon M. Dorn, age 53 years, of Tigerton, passed away on Tuesday evening, June 2, 2009, unexpectedly at his home. Eldon Michael Dorn was born March 15, 1956, at St. Mary' s Hospital in Madison to Alphonse and Donna (Smith) Dorn. He was raised in Waunakee and graduated from high school in 1974. Eldon was employed for roughly 25 years by Evans Furniture & Mattress Co. in West Allis. He learned the trade and advanced quickly to store manager. In the late 1990s he went into business on his own, starting Contract Furnishings in Franklin. Eldon sold commercial furnishings to skilled care and assisted living homes. Eldon and his partner Juli purchased land in 2002 and settled in rural Tigerton. They built their dream home with lots of love and the help of family and friends. Eldon also enjoyed sprint car racing, deer hunting and traveling. Survivors include his best friend, Juli Hudziak; a daughter, Julie (Craig) Steinle of Waunakee; and his parents, Al and Donna Dorn of Waunakee. There is a brother, Jim (Gloria) Dorn of Brooklyn; and two sisters, Mary (Randy) Nonn of Mazomanie, and Brenda (friend, Tim Fischer) Dorn of DeForest. He is further survived by Juli' s son, Jeremiah Rolfs of Saukville; and her granddaughter, Presley. Eldon also leaves behind aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the ELDON DORN RESIDENCE, N3764 Tower Road., Tigerton, WI 54486. An Illinois man and a Bonduel-area boy were killed Saturday afternoon when the snowmobiles they were driving collided at the crest of a hill. A spokesman for the Shawano County Sheriff's Department said the accident occurred about 2:15 p.m. on a snowmobile trail near Bonduel in the Town of Hartland. The Sheriff's Department had not released the names of the 45-year-old man or the 14-year-old boy because relatives had not been notified. A passenger on the boy's snowmobile, also a Bonduel-area 14-year-old, was taken to Shawano Community Hospital with serious injuries, the spokesman said. VAN ROY, MARTHA E., 85, of Largo, died Monday (Aug. 26, 1991) in Seymour, Wis. She was born in Beloit, Wis., and came here in 1963 from Wausau, Wis. She was a lab technician at the Wisconsin Department of Health. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Wisconsin, and St. Dunstan's Episcopal Church, Largo. Survivors include a brother, Albert Thompson, Summit, N.J.; and a niece, Mary Mueller, Bonduel, Wis. Moss-Feaster Funeral Homes, Serenity Gardens Chapel, Largo.
