The couple farmed in the town of Chase for many years. She was a member of the St. Anne's Society of Assumption B.V.M. Parish, Pulaski and was very active at the Pulaski Senior Center. Bea loved to play cards. She enjoyed flower gardening, canning and spending time with her family. Her grandchildren brought great joy to her life. Survivors include two daughters and two sons, Gerry and Roger Knope, Oconto Falls, Grace and Alex Bryfczynski, Green Bay, Don and Dottie Niec, Green Bay, Marvin and Debbie Niec, Pulaski; nine grandchildren, Jeffrey, James, and Mary Lee, Amy, Jane, and Paul, Kenneth, David, and Gene; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two sisters-in-law, Wanda Niec, Chicago, Ill., and Lucille Niec, Pulaski. The son of the late Walter and Mary (Grzeskowiak) Kowalkowski was born October 3, 1925, in Pulaski. Frank graduated from Pulaski High School in 1943. On May 20, 1950, he married the former Florence Stepien. The couple shared fifty-five wonderful years together. After returning from the Merchant Marines, Frank started his concrete construction business, Pulaski Ready Mix. In 1967, he moved the business to Ashwaubenon under the name of Red-D-Mix Concrete Inc. The business later expanded to include a second location in the Fox Valley area. Frank also owned and operated Frank's Mushrooms in Sobieski. He was always appreciative of his many loyal employees and customers. Frank's favorite pastime was spending time with his family and friends, especially at his cottage. While living courageously with cancer for the past two years, Frank joyfully! embraced life, continuing to enjoy and appreciate his many blessings. He was a lifelong member of Assumption BVM Parish in Pulaski, where he was an usher for many years and a member of the Holy Name Society. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Bona Council #4439, Pulaski. Frank was also very involved in the community. He was a member of the Pulaski Historical Society, Tri-County Community Corp., Crooked Lake Association and had been a member of the McCauslin Lake Association in Lakewood, the Wisconsin and National Ready-Mix-Concrete Associations and the Brown County Home Builders Association. She was a Girl Scout leader and cookie chairman. She worked in several fundraising projects in the village, including the March of Dimes, Heart Fund and Cerebral Palsy. She was a member of the Partners Ass'n. of the Wisconsin Ass'n. of School District Administrators and the Wisconsin Ass'n. of Retired School District Administrators, in which she served as president in 1986. Marie had been a greeter at the national convention of the American Ass'n. of School District Administrators. Leonard M. Wichlacz, 77, Pulaski, passed away peacefully the evening of Sept. 29, 2007, with his loving family at his side. Born Oct. 23, 1929, to Frank and Sophie (Kutchek) Wichlacz on a small farm in the town of Maple Grove, Leonard enjoyed his youth working and playing with his four brothers, attending Laney Grade School and graduating from Pulaski High School in 1948. He worked at the Northern Shoe Factory until he was drafted into the Army in 1952, serving his country at a military base in Chicago for two years. After working in Chicago for a while, he returned to Pulaski where he worked for Kuklinski Lumber Company. On April 30, 1960, he married the former Patricia Hodkiewicz at Assumption BVM Church in Pulaski and they settled in the area to raise their family. In 1966, Leonard started Wichlacz Lumber in Pulaski, supplying building materials and creating many beautiful homes in the area. He oversaw the operation until 2002 when he retired to his other passion, farming. Leonard's two farms kept him very busy through the years, where he enjoyed driving his tractors and working the land for crops. He and his wife, Pat, consistently grew the sweetest sweet corn around and many people in the area enjoyed the fruits of their labor. He also enjoyed involving his family and friends in his variety of farm chores around the countryside and many home projects. Leonard enjoyed spending many happy times and traveling with his wife, Pat, family and friends, reading, watching westerns, hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling, listening to polka music and meeting the guys for coffee each morning. His talents in carpentry created many memorable gifts and home treasures for his family and friends. Leonard was a member of the American Legion Mixtacki-Johnson Post #337, Pulaski, a charter member of the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Bona Council #4439, Pulaski and a member of the Holy Name Society of Assumption B.V.M. Church. He also served his community on the Pittsfield Planning Commission.
