Pribek Sophie L. Pribek, age 83, of 4213 Delta St., Manitowoc, died Saturday, May 31, 2008, at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers. Sophie was born on Nov. 21, 1924, in Pella, Wis., daughter of the late Sylvester and Catherine (Wisnewski) Wagner. On June 17, 1961, she married Vernon L. Pribek at First Presbyterian Church, Manitowoc. Sophie was employed at Schwartz Mfg. in Two Rivers until her retirement. She was a member of the Manitowoc Senior Center and also loved fishing and tending to her vegetable gardens. Survivors include her husband: Vernon, Manitowoc; two nieces: Luanne LaFleur, Two Rivers, Linda Sherman, Green Bay; one nephew: Eugene (Sue) Wagner, Citra, Fla.; one brother-in-law: Gordon Pribek, Sheboygan Falls; three sisters-in-law: Olive Herman, Evelyn Williamson, both of Sheboygan, Lucille Williquette, Milwaukee; and a special friend: Barbara Wagner, Manitowoc. Sophie is also survived by her special dog: Fawn. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by two nephews: Jerry Wagner and Kimber Wagner; and two brothers and sisters-in-law: Walter and Elaine Wagner, Benjamin and Rose Marie Wagner. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2008, at the Pfeffer Funeral Home and Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc. Officiating at the memorial service will be Deacon Al Boeldt. Cremation has occurred and burial of the cremated remains will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc. During World War II, he served in the 2nd Division of the Marine Corps. He was a member of the 2nd Marine Division Association, the Loyal Order of Moose Stuart Lodge 1282 and the Stuart/Jensen Elks Lodge 1870. Survivors include daughters, Peggy Keating of Chicago and Janice Maniscalco of Palm City; sons, Thomas Duncan of Round Lake Beach, Ill., and Daniel J. Duncan of Des Plaines. Ill.; brothers, James L. Duncan of Philadelphia, Miss., and John Duncan of Dundee, Mich.; sisters, Zita Duncan of Bristol, Conn., and Jean Theil of Pella, Wis.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Gauerke Reverend Donald L. Gauerke, age 74, of Pella, Wisconsin, died unexpectedly on Sunday, October 15, 2006 at his home. He was born on September 1, 1932 in Appleton, Wisconsin, the son of the late Alfred and Esther (Maass) Gauerke. Donald attended grade schools in Appleton and Pella, and graduated from Winneconne High School in 1950, where he received the school district's Outstanding Alumnus Award and a scholarship to attend Wisconsin Farm Short Course at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1953. After farming six years on the family farm near Allenville, Donald attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN, graduating in 1960. He then enrolled at Wartburg Theological Seminary, Dubuque, IA, interned at La Meza, CA and graduated in 1964. During his summers at seminary, Donald served as a chaplain and camp commissioner for the Boy Scouts of America in the Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Sacramento, California Councils. On August 16, 1958, Donald was united in marriage to Marjorie Clar! k at First English Lutheran Church in Oshkosh. The Gauerke's had two children, a son, David, who died in 1977, at the age of 15, and a daughter, Mary, who is married and presently living in Japan. In 1964, Reverend Gauerke was ordained at First English Lutheran Church in Oshkosh, into the ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, and went on to serve the following congregations: Grace, Nasonville 1964-1966; First English, Oshkosh, 1966-1969, Zion, Stratford and St. Peter's, Fenwood, 1969-1981; Trinity, New London, 1981-1996 and Immanuel, Zittau, 1981-2000. Reverend Gauerke was President of the Marshfield and New London Clergy Associations. He was treasurer of the founding Board of Directors for the Oshkosh Boys Club. He served on the Board of Directors for Bethel Home of Oshkosh and chairman on the Imago Dei Camps Financial Development Committee. Reverend Gauerke retired in 2000. In addition to an avid interest in Biblical archaeology, he continued to enjoy ou! tdoor camping, woodworking, skiing, fixing things, landscaping and bir d watching around the family home on the Embarrass River at Pella. Reverend Gauerke is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marjorie, a daughter, Mary (Dr. Masato) Shibuya, Japan, 2 grandchildren, Erika and Masaki Shibuya, 3 brothers, Robert (Juanita), Appleton, Kenneth (Shirley), Appleton, and Rev. Eugene (Elvira), Waupaca, a sister-in-law, Mary Daubert, Butte des Morts, WI, 14 nieces and nephews, along with many other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 20, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Zittau, with Bishop James Justman preaching, Liturgist, Rev. Timothy Routh; Scripture readings, Rev. Nathan Gauerke; and Eulogist, Rev. Eugene Gauerke. Burial will be in Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Winchester. Ehlert Lloyd G. Ehlert, age 89, of Shawano, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at a local nursing home. Born on Feb. 18, 1920 in the Town of Waukechon, he was the son of the late Arthur and Ella (Schultz) Ehlert. Lloyd was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country during World War II. On May 20, 1950 he was united in marriage to Rogean Barndt in Embarrass. Lloyd worked as a machinist at F.W.D. in Clintonville and was a member of the St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano. Lloyd is survived by: his wife of 59 years, Rogean; three sons, Bruce Ehlert of Anderson, S.C., Larry (Carol) Ehlert of Antigo, Richard Ehlert of Shawano; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and one sister, Joylen (Edwin) Baldwin of DePere. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 24, at St. James Lutheran Church in Shawano with the Rev. Fred Zimmermann officiating. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano with military rites conducted by the Shawano V.F.W. Post 2723. Viola spent many years volunteering in the Auxiliary at Northwest General Hospital in Milwaukee. She loved sports, and was known to watch one game on television, and listen to another on the radio. Berga was born November 9, 1916 in Gresham, Wisconsin the daughter of William Clark and Margaret (Miller) Davids. She was raised in the Stockbridge-Munsee Community in East Central Wisconsin before settling in McCune, KS after WWII. She has been apart of this community for 70 years. In 1941 she married James Edward Comer Jr. in Wisconsin; he preceded her in death in 1970. Berga worked as a Registered Nurse for the Public Health Administration in Kansas for over 40 years. She retired in the mid 1970's. Berga was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Parsons; a member of the Professional Nursing Organization and Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans. Survivors include sons Phil Comer of McCune, Kan., and Steve Comer and wife Kate Hubbs of Sand Lake, NY.
