He was born Jan. 21, 1927, in Caroline, Wis., to William and Amalia (Fischer) Schultz. Clarence was an auto body mechanic and repairman in Sheboygan and later in Florida. Survivors include two brothers, Elmer (Marjorie) Schultz of Sheboygan and Richard (Sandra) Schultz of Sheboygan a sister-in-law, Emma Deckert of Sheboygan and nieces and nephews. A sister, Violet McGuire a step-sister, Molly Halverson three step-brothers, Henry, Rudolph and Crist Deckert, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. Burial will take place in Sunrise Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A time of visitation and support will be held at Ballhorn Chapels on Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of service. A memorial fund has been established in his name. Leder Herbert R. Leder, 82, of W283 First Ave., Gleason, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2006, at Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill. He was born May 27, 1924, in North Saint Paul, Minn., son of the late Fred and Helen (Hochschulz) Leder. Herbert married Mary Jane Schoen on Nov. 12, 1955, in Caroline, Wis. She survives. Herbert served his country during the beginning of the Korean War. He stayed state-side with the U.S. Army. Herbert was a carpenter and dairy farmer. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Wausau, and he was a member of the Caroline American Legion. At the age of 13, Herbert taught himself how to make maple syrup. He would stay in the syrup shack through the night and go to school during the day. He truly enjoyed the time he spent producing maple syrup and made this a lifelong hobby. Hebert also enjoyed playing the accordion with The Bindertwine Band. Herbert also taught himself to play other musical instruments, as well. Herbert will be remembered by his family as a storyteller and a fantastic berry picker. Herbert and his wife, Mary, made several trips a year to Berrien Springs, Mich., to pick up cherries, peaches and other fruits. For this reason, Herbert will also be remembered by his family as "The Fruit Man." Survivors besides his wife, Mary Jane Leder, of Gleason; include two daughters, Nancy Jane (Dick) Camara, of Trussville, Ala., and Carol Ann (Keith) Acker, of Newark, Del.; four sons, David Alan (Laurel) Leder, of Scandinavia, Wis., Dr. Robert Roy (Penny) Leder, of Bear Creek, Wis., Mark Jon Leder, of Gleason, and Karl Fred (Sandra) Leder, of Gurnee, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, Heidi, Abigail, Jarrod, Casey, Richard, Justin, Caleb, Corban, Issac and Brett; and one sister, Frieda Lee Blanchard, of Ooltewah, Tenn. Herbert was preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Kay Leder; and by three brothers, George, Ted and Alfred. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, at the Taylor & Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. The Rev. Bob Mills will officiate. Burial will be in Gleason Cemetery, town of Russell, with graveside military rites conducted by the V.F.W. Post 1638, Merrill. Born Feb. 12, 1932, in Chelsea, he was the son of Dwight N. and Lucy L. (Betts) McCullough. He attended school in Chelsea and graduated from Chelsea High School in 1951. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. On July 4, 1957, he married Sarah "Sally" Metcalf. They lived their entire life in Chelsea. Shod worked for many years for the Town of Chelsea, driving trucks for the highway department. He also worked for many years for McCullough Crushing of Chelsea, as well as owning and operating a trucking business using his dump truck and tractor trailer. He retired in 1997. He was a member of the Chelsea Fish & Game Club and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed gardening, deer hunting and fishing. In his earlier years, he enjoyed playing baseball for the Chelsea town teams. He is survived by his wife of Chelsea; two sons, Charles R. McCullough Jr. of Caroline, Wis., and Dwayne A. McCullough of Finksburg, Md.; two daughters, Rebecca M. McCullough of Falmouth, Mass., and Laurie A. McCullough of Hadley, Mass.; three grandchildren; three brothers, Dwight N. McCullough Jr. of Mesa, Ariz., Alan H. McCullough and Maurice G. "Spike" McCullough, both of Chelsea; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Harriet "Becky" McCullough. Calling hours will be held Sunday, Feb. 18, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Boardway & Cilley Funeral Home on Main Street in Chelsea. Born Sept. 27, 1930, in Buffalo, N.Y., he was the son of the late Leland Krompart and Lucia Rynalski Krompart. He graduated from Kenmore High School, class of 1949. He served his country being enlisted in the United States Army. He attended Bowling Green State University and continued his education at Concordia Seminary in Springfield, Ill. and was ordained in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod in 1964. He pastored in Caroline, Wis., Wauseon, Ohio, was a campus pastor at Wisconsin State University at Oshkosh and also served at Redeemer Lutheran Church in North Tonawanda, N.Y., Immanuel Lutheran Church in Preston and was currently serving as supply pastor at Peace Lutheran Church in Smyrna, Del. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy L. Wolf Krompart, whom he married May 9, 1953; five children, Kevin B. Krompart and his wife Linda of Leander, Texas, Sue A. Hilts and her husband William of Sanborn, N.Y., Linda M. Barczykowski and her husband Roy of Pendelton, N.Y., Kristen A. Pianka and her husband Tim of Laurel, Del. and Aaron D. Krompart and his wife Mary Beth of Grasonville; 10 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and one nephew, Leland Krompart of Chicago, Ill. Ray was born on September 27, 1918 in Caroline, WI. the son of J. Fred Gruenwald and Tillie Liebman Gruenwald Beyer. Ray married Ruth Gomoll on January 12, 1946, at Grace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh, WI. He attended the Evergreen Country School near Clintonville, WI; the Clintonville Public School and the Caroline Public School. He worked for the Star Bakery Company of Marion and then as a traveling magazine salesman in southern Wisconsin. He enlisted in the Civilian Conservation Corps in July 1939. He served as the Mess Sergeant at the 2622nd Co. CCC Camp Delta, Drummond, WI. He worked at the Badger Lumber Company, the MacMillans Co. and the Grocery Co. all in Oshkosh. Ray was drafted into the United States Army in 1942. He trained at Fort Riley, KS. He served with the 826 Aviation Engineer Battalion, the 819th AEB, and then the 457th AAA AW Battalion. Ray worked as a Construction Electrician in five different states. After he retired, Ray served as Zoning Administrator and Fire Marshall in the Princeton area. He enjoyed visiting grandchildren, watching and filming wildlife in his backyard and tracing the family genealogy. In 1954, she married Edward D. Meyer, MD, in Allen Park, Michigan. During their married life they lived in Alaska, Missouri, Idaho, Utah and New York before returning to Wisconsin in 1969. Throughout her life Lorraine was adventurous and never tired of trying new things. She traveled to Europe, the Holy Land, and widely in the United States. She enjoyed many out-of-door pursuits including cross-country skiing, camping, hiking and gardening. She was an avid bicyclist and rode in cross-state rides in Wisconsin, Oklahoma and Oregon. She was particularly proud of the five medals she earned bicycling in the Senior Olympics. Lorraine was a self-taught computer expert. She was active in the St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Oshkosh, and worked as a volunteer with the Pregnancy Lifeline and the Winnebago County Senior Friends. She grew up there on the family farm, where she much preferred riding horses and working outdoors to any kind of housework. As a young woman, she moved to Chicago, where she met and married James Bigford. She worked for the Western Electric Company during World War II, and then the couple moved to Arlington Heights, where she worked as a lens inspector for The Addressograph Multigraph Company. Widowed in 1963, she was a wonderful and tireless single Mom. She retired in 1979 to Bradenton, Fla., where she spent 17 warm, fun years before moving to Rhode Island in 1996. She lived in Winslow Gardens (The United Methodist Retirement Center) in East Providence and Brightview Commons in ! South Kingstown before moving to Scalabrini Villa. No matter where she lived, she was always a "cheesehead" who rooted for her Green Bay Packers and remembered her German Wisconsin roots. She loved animals, gardening and traveling and was a good bowler, a terrific dancer (especially when it came to the polka) and a devoted grandmother. She was the wife of the late James Kenneth Bigford and the beloved mother of Pamela Bigford Thomas of North Kingstown. Besides her daughter, she is survived by her loving son-in-law, Christopher Thomas and beloved grandchildren, Ryan Bigford Thomas and Caitlin Rose Thomas, all of North Kingstown; her brothers, Herbert Behnke (Lenore) of Shawano, Wis., and Ira Behnke (Evelyn) of Lena, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews. He had also been an over-the-road truck driver when he wasn't building homes. John was a member of Carpenters Union local 1146, Green Bay, and had been a member of the N.R.A. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in Oneida and Vilas counties. John was a very hard-working man; he was unselfish, helpful, giving, and supportive. He was devoted to his wife, his children, and other family members, as well as friends. He was not only a father, but also a friend and mentor to his son, "J.R." John is survived by his wife, Sandy; and son, "J.R."
