Quinn Cecile A. Quinn, Shawano, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009 at Unity Hospice in De Pere. Cecile was born Nov. 13, 1930 in Strawberry Point, Iowa, to the late Dewey and Cepha (Steele) Farmer. Cecile was baptized, received first Holy Communion, and confirmation at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cox Creek, Iowa. She graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic High School in Elkader, Iowa, and attended business college in Dubuque, Iowa. Cecile married Francis E. Quinn on July 9, 1949 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Elkader, Iowa. Francis was employed by Dubuque Packing in various cities, and the couple moved to Shawano in 1958. Cecile was employed by the Shawano Recreation Center, and also Midwest Breeders from 1965 until retiring in 1983. She was a very active member at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. Cecile belonged to the Christian Mother's Group and distributed communion at Shawano Medical Center. She belonged to multiple Bridge groups in Shawano, was involved at the Senior Center, and participated in exercise class. Cecile was an excellent seamstress and ! loved to knit. She was also an avid fisherman. Cecile will always be remembered for her generous spirit and giving heart. She is survived by her daughter, Dianne (Jon) StAubin of Eau Claire; her son Dennis (Peggy) Quinn of Allouez; her brother, John Farmer of Strawberry Point, Iowa; two sisters, Dorothy Leonard of Elkader, Iowa; Rita (Don) Larson of Elkader, Iowa; grandchildren, S.Robert (Stephanie) Bartelt and their child, Francesca, Erin (Scott) Gutschow and their children, Greta and Grace, Meghan (Zach) Leimkuehler and their child, Emma, and Corey Quinn Bartelt. Cecile was preceded in death by her husband Francis on April 27, 2005; her brother, Don Farmer; and her sister, Erma Leonard. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2009, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano from 9:30 a.m. until funeral service at 11 a.m. with Father Len Evers officiating. Cecile will be interred in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Elkader, Iowa, where a graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Aug. 29, 2009 with Father Peters officiating. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home (920-842-2151) in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to American Diabetes Association. A special thanks to Renaissance Assisted Living in De Pere and friends, especially Sue White and the Knitting Group, Dr. Amy James, Dr. Biernat, and Unity Hospice and its staff for the excellent care given to Cecile. Laude Irene M. Laude, age 87, Wittenberg, died on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009 at the Homme Home of Wittenberg. She was born on May 27, 1922 in the Town of Bear Creek, Waupaca County, the daughter of the late Fred and Leona (Beyer) Draeger. On May 5, 1946, Irene was united in marriage to Lyman Laude in Bear Creek. He preceded her in death on Oct. 10, 2008. Irene worked at the former Laude's IGA in Wittenberg and also sold for the Fuller Brush Company for many years. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Wittenberg, and the LWML. Among other interests, Irene loved to cook and bake. She would also spend many hours making bars of soap and collecting items to support world relief efforts. Irene was also a member of a canasta club and was an active member of the Bloecher-Johnson American Legion Post 502 Ladies Auxiliary. Irene was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survivors include: three children, Mary (Dick) Beversdorf, Wittenberg, Diane (Dan) Zelinski, Antigo, Dave (Deb) Laude, Wisconsin Rapids; seven grandchildren, Jim (Beth) Beversdorf, Mark (Darci) Beversdorf, Alan (Resa) Beversdorf, John (Tehann) Zelinski, Sheila (Justin) Gelhausen, Krystal (Adam) Shearier, Kirby Laude; four great-grandchildren, Haylee, Shaylyn, Bodee and Adee; two brothers, Frank Draeger, Calif., Glenn (Susan) Draeger, Wausau, and a sister, Mildred Martin, New London. The son of John and Rose (Westphal) Jaworski was born August 19, 1944 at home in Chase. He was a U.S. Army veteran and had served in Vietnam for a 14-month tour of duty. On August 19, 1972 he married Nancy Wroblewski at St. John Cantius Church, Sobieski. The couple lived in Chase for the past 35 years. Larry loved his job. He had worked as a heavy equipment operator for Peters Concrete. He was a member of the Pulaski VFW, the Oconto Co. DAV, and the Krakow PLAV. Larry loved to cook and bake, and was generous in sharing meals and bread with family and friends. He loved his wife, children and his grandchildren very much. Larry was a hard worker who loved to build things and couldn't sit still. He was not real happy being retired. In addition to his wife, Nancy, he is survived by two daughters and three sons; Tina, Green Bay, Lawrence B., Waupaca, Bobbie, Madison, Luke, Waupaca, and Ben, at home; his four cherished granddaughters, Seylar, Grace, Kassidy, and Independence "Penny"; his mother-in-law, Jeanne Wroblewski, Chase; seven brothers, John Jr. (Rose), Pulaski, Ed (Georgia) and Norbert (Carole), all of Florida, Eugene (Nancy), Michigan, Matthew (Carol), Madison, Jim (Donna), Chase and Ron (Kathy), Chase; four sisters, Dorothy Pecht, Green Bay, Alvina (Myron) Sievert, Pulaski, Elaine (Norb) Verhaagh, Green Bay, and Mary McVey, Kansas; two sisters-in-law, Barb and Mary; one aunt, Lottie Jaworski, Pulaski; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. BRENER APPLE RIVER, Ill. - Donald M. Brener, 69, of Apple River, a retired farmer and breeder of Buelingo cattle died Sunday, Nov. 5, 1995, at Freeport Memorial Hospital. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home, Warren, with the Rev. Rod Dye, of Apple River United Methodist Church, officiating. Mr. Brener was a salesman for Import Specialties Co., of Milwaukee, after his discharge from the Army. He retired after 35 years and moved to Jo Daviess County in 1990. He attended school in Shawano and served in the Eighth Army Infantry Scout in World War II. He was vice president of the National Buelingo Society and was a founding member of the World Beef Expo. His memberships included the Illinois Beef Association, Jo Daviess Livestock Association, Jo Daviess Farm Bureau, Apple River Lions Club and Streamwood United Church of Christ. He will long be remembered for his love of Jo Daviess County and the people who reside there. Surviving are his wife, Amy Brener; four children, Scott, Judy and Tom Brener, all of Apple River, and Dave (Debrah) Brener, of Elgin; two grandchildren, Matthew and Bethany; and a brother, Richard, of Wauwatosa, Wis. Dobberstein Sept. 7, 1918 -- Nov. 28, 1995. Vernon R. Dobberstein, 77, of Modesto died Tuesday at Doctors Medical Center. Mr. Dobberstein was a native of Clintonville, Wis. He lived in Modesto 24 years. He worked for the Borden Company 45 years and retired in 1978 as superintendent of the can division. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church and the 40 Borden's Group. He is survived by his wife, Georgiana Dobberstein of Modesto; children, Ann Martin of Modesto and Robert Dobberstein of New London, Wis.; brother, Lee Dobberstein of Shawano, Wis.; and three grandchildren. Clair was born Sept. 1, 1917, in McGregor, to parents Harry T. and Carolyn Kathryn Zahn Miller. He married Floretta M. Melvin on July 31, 1938, at St. Mary's Church, McGregor. He farmed most of his life in the McGregor area and was an independent trucker until 1953. Clair was a member of the Eagles Club Aries No. 1502, Prairie du Chien; and Farm Bureau and St. Mary's Catholic Church in McGregor. Wickman, 63, of Rural Route 2 died at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, 1995, at his home. Born Sept. 9, 1932, in Shawano, Wis., to Paul and Gertrude Vonloh Wickman, he married Ruth Ann O'Grady. She survives. Also surviving are his mother, Gertrude Noyes of Kenosha, Wis.; three sons, Dean and Troy, both of Havana, and Marty of Prue, Okla.; one daughter, Marianne Cross of Commerce City, Colo.; four sisters, Dorla Kraft of Pensacola, Fla., Shirley Demrow of Kenosha, Mrs. Gerald (Phyllis) Schwenn of Willard, Wis., and Mrs. John (Betty) Tenhagen of Burlington, Wis.; one brother, Vern of Sarasota, Fla.; and 12 grandchildren. Two sons, Rory and Loran, and one sister preceded him in death. He was a maintenance laborer for Chicago and Illinois Midland Railroad from 1962 until retiring in 1994. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited; National Rifle Association; Masonic Lodge 88, AF&AM; and was an honorary member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6408. He was of the Lutheran faith.
