She married ????? Smith and had one son, Tom Smith, born 1876 or 1878. After Mr. Smith died she married James Wise on September 9, 1886 in Ozark, Missouri. James Wise help raise Tom Smith who was about 10 or 12 when he married Mary Tiney Willhite Smith. James Wise was 5 1/2 feet tall, light complected, blue eyes and black hair. He was a private in Co. M. Phelps Regiment Greene Co. Missouri Home Guard. He was wounded, but not in action. While home on leave he was shot by several individuals. When the town s people found this out, the hunted the men down and killed them. (I understand he walked with a limp. ) (I have been told he was a very likeable person and mischievous). Mary Tiney Willhite Smith Wise who we all refer to as GRANNY WISE, always chewed snuff. She was quite a expert spitter. She always had a big wad in her mouth. She was a tall slender women and when she got older was very hump backed. Tom Smith, Mary's son married and had 3 children that I know of; Boyd, Landon and Jewell. After the death of James Wise. Mary and her children moved to Parker County, Texas. <+!>NOTE:<-!> The county adjoining Parker County, Texas is Wise County, Texas. Unknown if the person who Wise County was named for was a relative or not. Neil Wise told me a couple years ago the James Wise was related to Governor Wise of Virginia who signed the death warrant of John Brown at the started of the Civil War.
