    3. Rogers - Ward - Shipman. Page 3. (1) John Rogers, died in 1684 Milford Conn., leaving a will. Wife name Ruth. Their son (2) Jabez Rogers was born in Milford Conn., in 1649 and in 1674 he married Sarah Ward - see Ward below, No-3. Jabez Rogers died in 1702 N.J. leaving a will. Their son (3).John Rogers was born probably in Essex Co., New Jersey, he married Elizabeth (last name not known) and he died in New Jersey, Essex Co. leaving a will dated 3/15/1713. Their son (4) Nathaniel Rogers born probably in Essex Co. New Jersey married Jemima (last name not known); they went to Morris Co. New Jersey where he died May 1761, leaving a will; Jemima died Sep. 2 1784 in Morris Co., N. J. Their daughter (5) Phoebe Rogers married Jabesh Shipman Sr., who died in 1781 in Morris Co. N.J. leaving a will. She died Nov. 16, 1792 in Morris Co., New Jersey; Jabesh Shipman was a soldier in the American Rev., serving in the Morris Co. N.J. Militia under Capt. Peter Layton - the same company in which his son in law, John (5) Shotwell served. Jabesh Shipman and Phoebe had daughter (6) Abigail Shipman, born in Morris Co. New Jersey 3/2/1754 and married Sep. 17 1773 John Shotwell (see page 1, No. 5) came to Mason Co. Ky. in 1788, where she died at Mayslick April 9, 1835 and where John (5) Shotwell died Dec, 9 1826. See page 1, for continuation of the line through their daughter Mary Shotwell who married John WISE. (1) Richard Ward died in England, leaving a will; his widow Joyce Ward and some of the children came to America, to Connecticut; Joyce Ward died in Wethersfield, Conn. in 1640 leaving a will. Their son (2) Sergt. and Lt. John Ward was born in England in 1625, came to Conn. with his widowed mother; he was of Branford Conn., but went to Newark Essex Co. New Jersey where he died leaving a will in 1694. He married 1st Sarah (last name not known) and had daughter (3) Sarah Ward, born about 1652 in Conn. probably, who married in 1674 Jabez Rogers, No. 2 above.
