WISE page 5. Children of John and Mary ( Shotwell ) WISE, order of birth not known by me. John WISE married Mary Shotwell in Mayslick Ky. Mason Co. 1/20/1799 and had 1. Eliza WISE, who married John Wheeler Mar. 1 1821 in Mason Co. do not have her children. 2. Ann WISE, born probably in 1802, she died 2/6/1852 in St. Louis Mo., age 50. she married in Mason Co. Ky., Edward S. Dobyns, and their known children were: Joseph S. Dobyns, Milton and Mary Ann (Molly). There may have been others. 3. Lydia WISE, was born 7/17/1803 in Mason Co. Ky. and married John Dorsey Burgess Oct. 17 1822; she died in St. Joseph, Mo. 10/22/1865. 4. Thomas J. WISE born Jan. 19 1806 Mason Co. Ky. died Oct. 21 1875 at Marion Kansas. M. 1st Maria Jane Briggs at New London Mo. Oct. 29 1828, see page 1 of these notes. At her death, he married 2nd a widow, Gabriella (Hall) Pogue. See page 6 for all children. 5. Abigail S. WISE born May 12, 1810 Mason Co. Ky., married in St. Louis Mo. April 24 1834 to John M. Wimer; Postmaster of St. Louis and Mayor twice. He was killed during Civil War. She died in Marion Kan. 2/21/1896. They had William W. Wimer, born 1/26/1835 and John W. WIMER born Oct. 4 1838. I have the children of John W. Wimer, some of whom were in Marion, Kansas. His dau. Mary Florence married a Reed; he had a son Ralph born in 1880 and a dau. Emma Grace Wimer born in 1883. 6. Priscilla WISE born 1816 died Feb. 4. 1904 age 88. I do not know where she died. she M. 1st Ranson Jones in Mason Co. Ky. 7/19/1834; she married 2nd. Joseph Patten, and had a dau. Fannie who was the 2nd wife of Jack Costello; she married 3rd to Robert Kemp. I do not know how many children Priscilla had. 7. William D. WISE b. ____ d. ____ In St. Louis Co. Mo. in 1828 and in Monroe Co. Mo. 1831, 32, 33. Know nothing at all of him or his descendants. 8. John S. WISE, born Feb 4 1823--according to his Bible, the youngest child; evidently so, since his mother died in 1823, Nov. 13. John S. WISE married 1st in St. Louis on Dec. 2, 1844 to Mary Ann Piggott. Married 2nd Oct. 21 1855 to Caroline Taylor; presumably in St. Louis. Married 3rd. June 16 1867 in St. Louis, Mo. to Sarah A Ratcliff or Radcliff. Children of Thos. J WISE, Sr. by his two wives: page 6. Thomas J. WISE, born in Mason Co. Ky., the son of John and Mary (Shotwell) WISE on Jan. 19, 1806. He died in Marion, Kansas Oct. 21, 1875. Married 1st. in New London Mo. to Maria Jane Briggs on 10/19/1828. They lived in Marion Co. also Lewis Co. or that part of Marion which was afterwards Lewis They also lived in Palmyra where Thomas J Wise had a drug store. They had three children: (1) William, born Oct. 22, 1829 Mar. American Jennie Phillips, now Mrs. Laffoon and had Thomas and Cora. This is all I know, but it seems to me that this William WISE went to Oklahoma. Do you know anything about him, or any of his children? (2) Mary Jane WISE, born Oct. 24 1832 in La Grange, Mo., married in New London, Mo. to George Campbell Hays on Oct. 24 1854. Their children were: Anna Maria; Sarah Campbell (called Cammie, who is my mother); George Edgar, Charles Thomas; and Mary Margaret; also James W who died young. Mary Margaret was the 3rd child, next to Mamma, and she married R. F. Roy. Sarah Campbell Hays--my mother--married Dr. T. J. Downing. See page 1 of notes. Grandma Hays died Sept. 12, 1920; Mamma is living. (3) Elizabeth WISE, born Nov. 17, 1834, died at birth. Maria Jane WISE (see Briggs), the 1st wife, died Dec. 17, 1834. Thomas J. Wise then married Gabriella (HALL) Pogue and had (4) Thomas J WISE, Jr. born Dec. 6, 1836. father of Maude May WISE Kelsey. (5) Maggie Hall WISE, born Jan. 30 1839 M. 1st James Norris Brooker. Married 2nd Christopher Rath, and had Gabriella Rath who M. a Broker and Charlie Rath. Gabriella Rath Brooker had Charles C Brooker, Mayor of Marion, Kansas in 1939, and Gladys Brooker Book. (6.) Chas. Washington WISE born Dec 10, 1840 in Macon Co. Mo. Married Louisa Hall WISE. (7) Abbie A. WISE, born July 5, 1843 M. Jack Costello, the 1st Mayor of Marion Kansas who at her death married her cousin, Fannie Patton, daughter of Priscilla WISE Patton. see page 5 of notes. (8) Gabie S. WISE born Dec. 24, 1846 D. 1867 M. George W Clark, have no record. (9) John S. WISE born Sept. 19, 1848, D. 16 May 1909. He has an adopted daughter, Mable Hart. He married three times. 1st, Julia F. Kearnes in 1870 and had Julia Campbell, Lillie, Deaf and Dumb (sic) Willie and 2 dead. 2nd, Kit Ruff Walter Wilcox - baby and 2 dead. 3rd, _______ I think these three marriages must be mixed up with the John S WISE, born in 1823. Million and had a. Virgie M. Wimer born Aug. 3rd 1861 m. a Kempin, lived at 221 Waren St., St. Louis. b. Sallie Eyle Wimer b. Nov. 4, 1866 m. Dougeese, Springfield, Ill. c. Alberta B. Wimer b. April 10, 1870 m. Fulton; widow in St. Louis. d. Mary Florence Wimer born Mar. 23, 1873 m. Reed, Marion, Kansas. e. John William Wimer born March 31, 1837, St. Louis f. Abbie Irene b. Feb. 5, 1877 - St. Louis. g. Ralph Wimer born Jan. 2, 1880 - Marion Kans. h. Emma Grace Wimer born. Mar. 7, 1883 - Marion Kans. I have not been able to find the Wimers above as listed in St. Louis.
