    3. I have the same problem. I have a picture of gr grandparents and no one knows a first name. It is not on the picture either. I know there was an Edmund and a John and Mary and Jerdon Hill, all from Kansas, and I know that there is a Gene Wise in Kansas now that looks enough like my son to be mistaken for him. I know they were miners and followed the mines. At one time were in Cowley Co. Kansas. If any of you have ancestors that came from North Carolina, I have a book called German speaking people west of the Catawba. Lots of Wises in it. Be glad to look for anyone that needs it. Some of those Wises moved on down to Missouri.
