    1. Re: Parents of Parmilla Miller m. James WISE
    2. I think I see a problem here. I don't see John MILLER listed as a child in the email from Lynda Lyle. (I assume the four names following Joseph MILLER before Permelia are Joseph's children. And, if John James Wilson MILLER's father, John (m. Samantha PAYNE) MILLER had only one sister, who is Jane? Dot Wise Wirth dotwirth@aol.com <<Eleven children were born to John and Samantha (Payne) Miller, both natives of South Carolina, born 1800 and 1802, respectively. John MILLER was a successful planter in Marion County, where he married in 1824. He emigrated from South Carolina to Mississippi in 1852 and here he resided until the time of his death, which occurred in 1878. His wife died in 1865. (from the Calcasieu (La.) Parish History by John T. Cupit)>> <<In the spring of 1852 his (John James Wilson MILLER) father (John MILLER left South Carolina and settled in Wayne County, Miss. There Mr. Miller remained until he saw his parents comfortably settled, leaving them in 1856 and striking out for himself. His father's only sister, Mrs. Permelia Wise, then lived in Claiborne Parish, La. and towards this aunt's home Mr. Miller bent his footsteps in 1857. Soon after arriving there he met Miss Laura Lindsey, of an old and well-known family, whom he married in 1858. Source: Tribute to Life of Pioneer, Citizen, the late J.J.W.
