Doug , Thanks for the information. I don't know..none of the names mean anything to me as she is not related to me at all. She must have finished school (whatever grade would have been appropriate in 1853 for a young woman of means. It could be that a desc. of hers brought the book down here as a cherished family heirloom and it was inadvertantly packed away. I know an old woman died in the house before it was put up for rental property. Being 15 at the time, those things didn't register with me and now the house has been torn down years ago to make way for office buildings... Thanks anyway. Sherry
