    1. Re: George Wise
    2. Joan Rogers writes: Where was George Wise from? Was he was SMC or was "his family" from SMC? Same question for Jane King. Do you have any other information about George Wise and his parentage? Reply: I believe that the George Wise (b. 1773) mentioned above was the son of Thomas Wise (b. 1736, SMC, MD) and Sarah Lewis. One researcher indicated that Thomas died in SMC, which would suggest that his children were all born there, but I don't have any firm evidence on George's birthplace. I also don't know anything about either Jane King or Sarah Lewis and would be very interested to hear from anyone who does. I am hoping to be able to visit the St. Mary's County Historical Society Library in the near future and see what I can dig up. Some of my information comes from World Family Tree files distributed by Broderbund and is not well documented (if at all). Other children shown for Thomas and Sarah are: - Thomas (b. 1760, SMC; m. Milley (1) Robinson and (2) Mary Humpheries) - William (b 1763, SMC; m. Elizabeth Rose) - Jermiah (b. Apr 15, 1764, SMC) - Charles (b. 1765, d. 1820) - Ranseau (b. Jan 1, 1766, SMC) - Hannah (B. 1767) - John (b. 1769) - Mary Ann Wise (b. 1770) - George (b. 1773, see above) - Richard (b. 1775) Sources show Thomas to be the son of Richard Wise (b. 1708, d. 1778 SMC) and Mary Milburn. (a total of 10 children with birthdates ranging from Richard in 1730 to Margaret in 1763). This Richard is shown as the son of Richard Wise, who came to SMC about 1695. I had originally shown this Richard as the grandson of the emigrand Richard through William (b. 1685) and am still somewhat skeptical because the emigrant Richard would have been about 60 when this Richard was born in 1708.
