His son was William Wise who was married to Mary Kendall.. The 1880 U. S. Census of William and Mary Wise of Salem Township near Newcomerstown, Tuscarawas County, Ohio provides the information that William's father and mother were born in Maryland. William's wife's, Mary Kendall's, father was also born in Maryland. Her mother was born in Virginia. The Coshocton County Library, Coshocton, Ohio, has a book containing information on Maryland from the 1600's to the 1800's. "The Maryland Heads of Families, 1790": William Wise St. Mary's County 1 Male 16yrs+ 2 Male 16yrs- 2 Females 8 Slaves George Wise* Washington County 1 Male 16+ 2 Females William Wise Prince George County 1 Male 16+ 1 Male 16- 2 Females *2- Thomas Wises in Prince Geo. County William Wise Kent County 1 Male 16+ 1 Male 16- 4 Females According to the dates on the George Wise(Nctown) tombstone in Bethal Cemetery, Tuscarawas County, Ohio, his birthdate would be 1791 but this could be slightly inaccurate. Remembering not only William's father was born in Maryland but also Mary Kendall's father was as well. William Kendall Kent County 1 Male 16+ 2 Male 16- 7 Females 5 Slaves Along with William Kendall, James Kendall and John Kendall were also of Kent County. These Kendalls are the only ones listed in Maryland in 1790 and although Maryland had many more Wises listed in this census, the above are the only William or Georges, with the one matching William Wise of Kent County with the Kendalls of Kent County.
