I don't know if we're talking about the same James WISE as we've never been able to identify the parents of our James WISE. Unless you're descended from one of the known children shown below, probably not. However, I'd love to know what you have if you think there might be some connectiond. He emigrated to Amite Co, Miss. with his brother, Jesse, and before 1840 came to Claiborne Parish as is noted in the census of that year. He was a planter at Colquitt, La. and organized one of the first Baptist churches of that area. He died October 14, 1858 in Claiborne Par, LA. The successions of both he and his wife are filed in Claiborne Parish: his on 16 AUG 1858 and hers, 12 FEB 1864. JOHN MILLER was born ca 1800 in SC and married SAMANTHA PAYNE. John died in 1878 in Mississippi. John and Milla are thought to have been the children of JOSEPH AND ADA (GILBERT) MILLER. Joseph was born abt. 1760-1770 and died in 1826. His parents are thought to have been TOBIAS AND MARY (WOOD) MILLER and his grandparents, JACOB AND CATHERINE MILLER, German emigrants to NC in 1710. Are you speaking of the James Wise that was the son of BENJAMIN WISE of North Carolina? Benjamin had 3 sons - Josiah, James, and William C. (Culley). I believe that I am descended from that James and that the Frank E. Wise who has done all that North Carolina research is decended from Josiah.
