Hi. I have been doing research on the WEISS/WEIS family. My line immigrated from Gamshurst, Baden, Germany in 1830. They were Roman Catholic and settled in Mercer County. If your line is German Catholic, we may have some connection. The name was WEISS until they came to America. It appears that is when they dropped the second 's'.
