I've been researching my family for some time now resulting in a family who lived in St Ebbe - Oxford - before moving into London.. this is the furthest I can go as the father of the family cannot be traced in Oxford - maybe Berkshire is the answer. Names: William Wise - born 1794 (oxford - on marriage cert - of this county) < trying to trace this man ** Susannah Collis - born 1795 (Oxford same as above) Marriage: 23 Nov 1817 > St Peter in the East / Oxford. I found that the witnesses were William Hedges and Hannah Hartwell both signing with marks which suggests they are friends or relatives rather than church wardens and HH has the initials RMB next to her name which is new to me. They had 4 children in Oxford - births were given in the St Ebbe area. ** I'm looking to trace William Wise - born 1794. I've checked thoroughly in Oxford but as yet the only William Wise's born at that time either died young or got married to the wrong person. NB: Occupation - SMITH on 1851 census in London. The family went on with this in the next generation as either coachsmith or plain smith again.. hoping this might help? If there is any thing you can do to help, I would be very grateful. Ray Wise.
