He is the son of Jacob Wise and Mary Wise. I believe this couple were married in Shenandoah co, VA Dec 1794. He was born in Greene county PA and I believe he was the oldest son. Margaret was apparently the first born child in 1797. In about 1817 his father Jacob Wise moved the family just south into Monroe county, OH. Jonathan's first wife was Jennie Young. She died about 1840 and he married Martha Antil. He had 9 children by his first wife and 9 children by his second wife. The family moved to Jackson co, WV in 1859 or 1860 and he died shortly thereafter. I do not believe Jacob Wise is related to the Adam Wise family of Washington co, PA. I believe he was born in Maryland in 1771. I am always looking for answers to the question who was his Father?? Any information would be wonderful.
