Hi to all My Wise family goes back just a few generations in the United States. Joseph Wise was a Jewish man and married Amelia (Emilia) ________. Joseph was from Austria in 1825 according to the 1920 census. Amelia was from Hessen Darmstadt, Germany born in approx. 1836, immigrating here in 1852. They had 8 children only 4 surviving: Josephine, Louis, Carrie, and Theressa. He was a merchant in the Vancouver, Washington area. I do not know how or where he came into the States and have been trying to figure that one out for a while. I am related to the Louis Wise born in 1861 and married Elsie Leone Hawes in June of 1899. Elsie was not a Jewish woman so the Jewish line stop on my family tree branch but other children did continue the line. They all settled in a part of the Oregon Territory which became the state of Washington. If you are related to these line I would appreciate any information you may have. Jacque Carnes
