    3. HI:  We too are from hi line of Wise's.  My recods show that "John was actually married to Catherie Elizabeth (Chapman) (1) Kinard (2) Rinehart, twice widowed.  Elizabeth was the daughter of Abraham and Anne Elizabeth CHAPMAN.  Her first husband Frederick KINARD (William Frederick) died young leaving her with small children.  She then married the widower, John RINEHART, who lived across the Salude River from John WISE.  Elizabeth was a strong Lutheran, while John Rinehart was a strong methodist, although this never caused any problems." (Sise-Wyse Families of S.,Carolina, revised ed. pg 55)   John's second wife was Catherine "Elisabeth" was not a KELLY nor had she been married to a kELLY previous to her marriege to JOHN.  This information listed as Elizabeth Betsy KELLY appears to be an error of information in some of the family files nd should be so noted for future researchers who may come upon this data.   Jan Wise Henderson --- On Sat, 3/14/09, [email protected] <[email protected]> wrote: From: [email protected] <[email protected]> Subject: [WISE] COL. CHUCKLE: THE WORST THING ABOUT RETIREMENT IS THAT YOU FIND OUT HOW YOUR SPOUSE HAS BEEN HANDLING THINGS AT HOME ALL THESE YEARS....................... John Wise was born 25 Sep 1779 in Newberry, SC. I have his death as 16 Sep 1860 in Newberry or Edgefield, SC. His wives were Anna Mary Margaret Kelly and Elizabeth Kelly. I have this John on the 1820 census in Newberry. Yet he and his granddaughter's family moved to Georgia -- and they settled in Sumter Co. in about 1867-1870. She is on the 1870 census in Sumter Co. We've wondered if they went back to an area where family was living. Our line is: 1. Martha Pauline Wise (1846) md. David Samuel Derrick moved to Sumter in about 1867-1870. Daughter of: 2. Joel Wise (1820-1895) md. Nancy Melissa Schumpert (1819-1849). Son of: 3. John Wise (1779-1860) md. Anna Mary Margaret Kelly (1779-1830). Son of: 4. Johann Georg Weiss (1742-1821) md Anna Barbara Bickley ( 1749-1837). Son of: 5. Ernst Frederick Weiss (1705-1792) md. Maria Barbara Ruff (abt 1710-abt 1750). Son of Johann Georg Weiss (b. 1670) of Merseberg, Prussia, Germany (no wife indicated). Can you find any link to the GA line that you are familiar with? Where might the John you mention fit in? Thanks! Julie http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.wise/1299.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Glenna, Are you still seeking information on Joseph Wise, b1740 and his ancestors in Virginia? I am descended from Joseph thru his son Joel and have extended the line back to Joseph's grandparents, William Wise, b ca 1681, d 1752 Brunswick, VA. Have not been able to find where William was born. Some have said that he is descended from Col. John Wise and his line in Accomac Co. VA but I have not been able to prove this and the dates don't appear right. Do you have anything on this connection? I also show that Joseph was born in Wayne Co. NC as were most of his 11 siblings. Jack Wise >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Here is some info. from....................Jack Wise Col. John Wise (1733-1800 -- married to Anne Smith). Based on my research John would be my Great,Great,Great,Great,Greatgrandaddy. I am the daughter of Bobby Wise, son of Arthur Wise (1902-1976), son of Todd Wise (1877-1971), son of Herrin Wise (1838-1908), son of James Wise (1800-1873), son of Joseph Wise (1772), son of the aforementioned John Wise (1733-1800).
