    3. hi, was wondering:  You mentiond you are from the S.C. James WISE branch.  Could you share a little more information on the lineage for clarification for those out here who are researching the S.C. Wise's.  Thanks Jan --- On Sat, 3/14/09, Becky Campbell <[email protected]> wrote: From: Becky Campbell <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [WISE] Family Tale To: [email protected] Date: Saturday, March 14, 2009, 10:39 PM Billie, I wonder if it is a Wise family trait to box up the genealogy and hide it when they find something they don't like. In my branch of the James Wise from South Carolina, there was a cousin that did extensive work on the Wise line, then one day she came to a screeching halt, told her daughter that she did not need to go into any more researching. From that day forward she has refused to even discuss what she found that made her stop. 3. My James Wise family, there is mass confusion there.. and personally I think he was found in the cabbage patch, dropped by aliens. But on a serious note here is what we have. James was born 11 June 1781 in South Carolina he died 14 October 1858 in Claiborne Parish Louisiana, he was married to Permelia Miller she was born 1796 place unknown and died 1863 in Claiborne Parish. They had 15 children for sure, and maybe 16 depending on which researcher you are talking with. Their first 8 children were born in South Carolina, then the family moved to Copiah County Mississippi where their 9th child was born along with the remainder of their children their last child being born in 1837. By September of 1840 they were settled in Claiborne Parish Louisiana. Four of their children married while in Mississippi but moved to Louisiana either with James and Permelia or shortly afterward None of us doing research on James and Permelia have been able to find out who his parents were. There is an Ambrose Wise that was in Horry County South Carolina that seems to be a good prospect since their 4th son was named Ambrose. The parents of Permelia are also in hiding, though I have no trouble believing that her parents were Joseph Miller and Ada Gilbert as both of those names were used in naming her children. There was a Jesse Wise that seems to have also traveled the same route approximately the same time as James and Permelia, none of us know how the two men are related, but DNA evidence on descendants of each man points to a close connection. My branch of the family comes from Ambrose Wise who married Mahanna O'Bannon. Ambrose being the 4th son and the 6th child of James and Permelia. Becky
