They were Henry Wise (1845) and his wife Nancy (1848). His mother was Lucy Wise (1810). The 1870 census lists them and their families. Since none of them are enumerated on earlier censuses, my assumption is that they were slaves. Henry's son, Joseph Washington Wise, married Martha Longshore (a twin). They also lived in Newberry County. Their childrem were: Enos (Enoch), Amanda, Adella, Joseph, Isiah, Paul, Elverta, Anna, Sarah,and Jeremiah. Information in the 1900 census says that Nancy had 14 children, but, by then only 10 were living. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
