    1. Re: [WISE] Looking for information on Daniel Wise or Isaac Wise
    2. Good morning, I am descended from the immigrant Frantz Weiss of Muhlhoffen /Barbelroth, Palatinate. Frantz had brothers and sisters that also immigrated a few years apart. Frantz and his wife, Maria Barbara Trout both died in Frederick, MD. She in 1749, he in 1751. It is my opinion that brother Abraham settled along Patterson creek having bought land from Mary Creamer whose husband Oliver had been killed by Indians. Brother Peter was living with Frantz on the plantation "Strife" at the time and is mentioned in Frantz' will. Also Abraham had a daughter indentured to Frantz at the time he wrote his will. For me, the first son of Frantz was Jacob, he is my progenitor. Have not been able to track Daniel. Jacob was 18 when his father died and all the other children (8) were young. Some of them were taken in by their aunt and uncle (Frederick Unseltd) and probably relocated to Back Creek. This is not the same family as Johan Adam who was from Gross Winterheim. That family relocated to 10 mile creek, Ft. Redstone fairly early. However, Jacob, John and Adam were awarded a 200+ acre land grant on South Mill creek, a branch of Potomac as early as 1763 by King George. I am still trying to determine who John and Adam were. Due to their location and timeframe, an analysis of their contemporaries and further land grants to others, I am strongly suspicious that these gentlemen were with Geo. Washington on his first foray to Ft. Duquesne in an attempt to evict the French. Frantz had anglicized his name to Francis Wise following his move from Lancaster Co., PA to Frederick MD. Jacob was also referred to as Jacob Wise, but the spelling of the last name on the land grant was Wees for all three and the name stuck. John, Adam and Adam Jr. later became involved in the Brake/Claypool rebellion but not Jacob. Since they could be classified as Tories and their land confiscated by the new American government they sold their interest in 1789, the year confiscations started. It would be a dream come true if we could ID John and Adam. Jacob had a brother John but no Adams appear in the family. Frantz immigrated in 1733 and arrived on the ship Elizabeth, first settling at Muddy Creek, E. Cocalico, Lancaster PA. He along with some other German's had their eye on buying all of the area known as Tasker's Chance. Jacob was born 6 weeks after arrival. Must have been quite a ride for Barbara ! Thanks for writing. If there is anything I can do to help just let me know. This is all from memory, more is written down.... Haven't done DNA yet. My 2nd great grandfather is Isaac Henderson Wise, 3rd great grandfather is Isaac Wise. I wanted to follow up on your thread a few years ago to see if you've had any luck clarifying Daniel / Mary Powell. I keep coming across Kentucky but that seems like a stretch, though there's no way for me to prove / disprove that currently. Based on the 1860 census the Isaac / Isaac H. line seems pretty legit, but prior to that I'm leveraging your work. I saw some of your posts about the "other" Daniel in KY, with him not being both there and PA at the same time. I was also looking at the "Ancestors & Descendants of Johann Adam Wise" book, but it states Daniel as the KY Daniel rather than the PA Daniel. Are you confident that we are descendants of Johann Adam? Any chance you've done any genetics? I did mine through 23andme.com...curious if that's an angle to figure out if we're definitively related to the Adam Wises... Feel free to email at crwise@gmail.com<mailto:crwise@gmail.com>. Thanks!
