Recently, my father's paternal DNA matched on the Mattox line. I suspect it is during the late 1780-1790 timeframe when my GGG Grandfather, J. J. Wise, must have been born based upon a bible entry. He was married to a Mary Cameron in 1807 in Blount County, TN (divorce decree shows this). We have Autosomal DNA matches on MANY Wise surname ancestors from the James Wise and Rebecca Massey generation, even Rebecca Massey's mother's line. I would love to learn more about this George Washington Wise. I have several George Washington Wise's on my tree. Will have to do some investigation. The only way the Paternal would match Mattox and Autosomal match Wise's, a Wise daughter married a Mattox and the male child's surname was recorded as WISE. Could be due to bad marriage, husband died, or born out of wedlock and they wanted to suppress the incident (avoid the Bastardy Bond record). Would love to learn more here. David, I can't help you with your problem but I am very interested in Rebecca Massey's mother. What information do you have about her mother and her mother's line? I would very much appreciate that information.
