I am a direct descendant. My mother is Claire Ida Wise Davis. My grandfather was Lawrence W. Wise. His father was Vernon Eugene Wise, and His father was Ambrose Wise son of Valentine and Betsy. Valentine had other children named Alonzo, Sperry, Ansel, Albert, Jenner (Martha), Louisa, Warren (the eldest), and Lucretia(?) Not sure of this one, Census was almost unreadable. Valentines father as near as I or any of my cousins can figure was Sperry Wise. The states involved would be the following: New York, Massachusetts, Ohio, Michigan, Conneticut, possibly Iowa and Montana. At this point things become muddied. As near as we can figure it was due to a change in the spelling of the last name. Wise was originally either Wyse, Wiess, Weis, or another variation. If you have any information I would love to speak with any of you. This site has already helped me to find several cousins. I regret that the following are the only confirmed dates I have... It is small and does not go back to Jacob.... just family allusions to him in the past.. What I do know is: Peter Wise m. Matilda Bouch in PA. According to Henry Cty (Ind.) peoples list. He died 12-31-1915 in Cadiz IN Matilda B. born in PA She died in Cadiz IN as sone Henry's home They had Peter Wise, Jr. b 1846 d, 1920 Lewisville IN Also had Henry Clifton Wise b. 1855 near Lewisville IN Peter Jr. married Nancy Scott. She d. 1925 Henry County IN They had... Mary Ocy Ola Wise b. 1-17-1868 d,12-26-1961 in MI they also had Rilla Wise Those are the only so called facts I have.... all research seems to suggest a Jacob Wise in PA was associated with this family. I have found no actual proof.... I visited a library in Reading and was unable to find anything there... Have tried in a small way to research here in IN but have "come up dry"..... Now I'm hunting for straws... Tried to contact Robert (?) Wise..... he too was born in Cadiz... Had his secy or someone reply to my email with the fact he didn't remember my grandmother.... Mary Ocy Ola Wise was my paternal Grandmother. She married Frank Moore. They wound up living in Plainfield, Indiana. There is little known about my father's parents. It has been said that her ancestors came to the Eastern part of IND from Reading PA area. It is also claimed that she had Jacob Wise in her family... She said they stopped in OH before moving on to IN. Sorry to not know more... Any help would be most appreciated Marilyn Moore Bigelow.
