    3. Does anyone have any information on the Jacob and Michael Wise? (Orangeburg and Barnwell District of S. C.) I am trying to find a connection to a William Wise born 1743-1747 who live within the same area. Who are the children of Jacob Wise and also Michael Wise? do we have any decendants of these two men. I do not know if there is a connection between Jacob and Michael. 1790 Census show they were living within the same area. Thanks Bonnie

Author: em2martin Surnames: Wise, Longshore Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.wise/1212.1242/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My AA Wise relatives were located in Stoney Battery Twp., Newberry County, SC. They were Henry Wise (1845) and his wife Nancy (1848). His mother was Lucy Wise (1810). The 1870 census lists them and their families. Since none of them are enumerated on earlier censuses, my assumption is that they were slaves. Henry's son, Joseph Washington Wise, married Martha Longshore (a twin). They also lived in Newberry County. Their childrem were: Enos (Enoch), Amanda, Adella, Joseph, Isiah, Paul, Elverta, Anna, Sarah, and Jeremiah. Information in the 1900 census says that Nancy had 14 children, but, by then only 10 were living. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. [WISE] BATES - WISE Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Marguerite BATES and Barrett F. BATES which was taken at the Wells Studio in Odessa, Missouri. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1890's with the two children appearing to be 4-6 years old at the time the photograph was taken. In addition to their names, someone has also written the name "Hurbert" on the back of the photograph as if that might be to whom the photograph was given. Based on limited research and thanks to the assistance of a BATES Family Researcher I have gathered the following information regarding this family: Marguerite Ellis BATES b. 1889 in Bates City, MO, married Joseph Blaine WISE Jr. on 12 Dec 1917 in Lexington, MO and died 17 Nov 1964 in Waynesburg, OH. Barrett Ferdinand BATES draft registration indicates his birth date as 30 Oct 1891. He later moved to WI and died in WI in Dec 1963. Census records for the family are as follows: 1900 census of Lexington, MO: George W. BATES, age 47, born May 1853, married 20 years, born MO, parents born Germany/TN, a Collector Gemima BATES, wife, age 44, born Nov 1855, married 20 years, 6 children/6 living, born MO, parents born VA/MO Theodore BATES, son, age 20, born Aug 1879, born MO, a Property County Collector Luise C. BATES, dau, age 19, born Oct 1881, born MO, at School Geoff Hubert BATES, son, age 15, born Dec 1884, born MO, at School Margrete BATES, dau, age 10, born Nov 1889, born MO, at School Barrett F. BATES, son, age 8, born Oct 1892, born MO Griffith BATES, son, age 4, born Dec 1895, born MO 1910 census of Lexington, MO: George W. BATES, age 56, a widower, born MO, parents born Germany/TN, a Veterinery Doctor Theodore A. BATES, son, age 30, born MO, parents born MO, a Milling Co. Treasurer Hubert BATES, son, age 25, born MO, parents born MO, a Bank Bookkeeper Marguerite BATES, dau, age 20, born MO, parents born MO, an Artist Barrett F. BATES, son, age 18, born MO, parents born MO, a Clothing Store Salesman Griffith P. BATES, son, age 14, born MO, parents born MO 1920 census of Lexington, MO: George W. BATES, age 66, a widower, born MO, parents born Germany/TN, a County Clerk Barrett F. BATES, son, age 28, born MO, parents born MO, a Clothing Salesman I am hoping to be able to return the photograph to a member of the family so that this wonderful old treasure can be returned to their care. If you are a member of this BATES Family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

His father would have been Alfred and his mother Mary. He was my grandfather's brother but nobody talked about him that I know of. I was just little and they didn't talke around children. I didn't know my grandfather had another brother, he had Ellsworth Wise and he was like a grandfather to me, but until I started geneology I didn't know about William. My grandparents named their first son William, but I don't know if it was after his uncle or not. I could not find any mention in census after the 1900's in Clearfield Co. Would appreciate any info on the Wise's in Knox, Clearfield Co. PA Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Franklin had an uncle named James I believe but I recently am wondering who he really was since he doesn't appear on some others charts. The Wise family was huge at that time so who knows who the boy James was. Franklin had these children: Cornelius A., Ethalind, Harry, Nora Barbara, Elizabeth, Mary A., Edgar Roy, Sarah Jane, Grace May and maybe one more child I haven't entered into my family chart yet. Thanks again, Steve Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
