He resided in the township until his decease in 1853. He was one of the prominent early Baptists of this section, honest, industrious and moderately successful. He was highly esteemed. His children were Nancy [1810-1889], Margary [1820-1908] and George W. [1815-1875]. [Additional children: Mary; Olive P. [1813-1903]; Jane 1822-1897]; James L. [1824-1896]; Eli J. I found that the witnesses were William Hedges and Hannah Hartwell both signing with marks which suggests they are friends or relatives rather than church wardens and HH has the initials RMB next to her name which is new to me. They had 4 children in Oxford - births were given in the St Ebbe area. ** I'm looking to trace William Wise - born 1794. I've checked thoroughly in Oxford but as yet the only William Wise's born at that time either died young or got married to the wrong person. NB: Occupation - SMITH on 1851 census in London. My mother still alive, never new her dad, her mom and dad got a divorce when she was three. The divorce decree was in kimball, ne. My moms name is Lois, her mother, Mildred Victoria Conner Wise Baker moved to Omaha. My mom remembers hearing that Her father had been married before Mildred, and I noticed a ten year age difference. From Wyoming they move back to Kimball. When Leon Died in 1968, my mom heard that three half sisters were trying to get a hold of her, They were going to protest the will and Leon had another wife. My mom does not know their names where they were born, Leons other wifes names, but she heard he moved to Idaho, then on to Washington state, because she also heard that he was cremated and his ashes thrown in puget sound. On rootsweb, a descendant of Chester Wise provided info. Chester was marr! ied three times, the granddaughter Ronna Allen Turner moved from Idaho to Washington state. Her email is no longer working and I have tried in vain to get in touch with her. I will tried to get an obit, and I have gotten death certificate. Also the reason Leons mother Ethel Mardis was not listed in the 1910 census is because she was living with a sister and also there is an older boy listed that I think is Hutsels son from the first marriage, do you have any info. on her or the kids.
