I am looking for ancestors/descendents of Tom Wise who married Patty Wilson. They lived in North Carolina in the early to mid 1800s and had 11 children born from 1833 to 1853. I have very little information on Tom (first name may have been James) but I believe Patty lived to be 104 years of age . It's possible they came to North Carolina from Kentucky. Information I have to date is pretty sketchy, I have been unable to find any information regarding Tom's ancestors but I do have a list of descendents from Tom to my great- grandmother Eva Lizzie Wise. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Dseelen@aol.com
Thought I'd start the new year by reposting my Wise line. I am certain that my Samuel Wise ties to the Accomack co Wises but need to verify his parents. He used unusual names for his sons that were in heavy use by the Accomack co Wises. I would also like to find the maiden name of Samuel's wife, Elizabeth. Anyone else researching these Wises? My WISE connection is as follows: Unknown Mr. WISE m. Moriah CROSS b. PA cir 1845 Their children were probably all born in Coshocton Co. OHIO (the last definitely was): Elmer JOHNSON (from previous marriage) John WISE (whom they called Johnny FLANDERS) Agnes WISE d. of brain fever at age 9 Servilla WISE b. 1871 m. James WILSON; she died in Navarre, OHIO at age 98. Servilla was a hard worker. She split rails with an axe in the snow and did not always have shoes to wear. She also sewed for hire. Her husband (my gr grandfather), did not treat her right and he died at a young age, the year my grandfather was born. She was left to raise seven children on her own. The youngest (my grandfather) Wallace Garnet WILSON was born in 1909 in Coshocton Co. OHIO. When she died in 1969, she had 22 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and 9 gr gr grandchildren. I'm very interested in info about Servilla WISE or her mother Moriah CROSS WISE or any of their descendants. Judy Uplinger-Brannon
Researching my husband's ggrandfather, Henderson Wise, born c. 1835 in Washington Co., Pennsylvania. We know his father was William Wise, a miller who worked at Corbitt's Mill, owned by John Corbitt. Henderson learned his trade as miller from his father. He worked for Jacob and Stephen Ullery in Washington Co. and married his Irish-born wife, Roseanna McDermott, in 1859. Any information or direction concerning the above would be most appreciated. Carole J. Watkins carlyj@pacbell.net

I am very new to this list, so have tried to proceed with caution! I have been searching for more information on Daniel Wise and his wife, Martha Ann Wilder. This couple married in Bienville Par.,LA 23 Sept 1860. Daniel served as Private, Co. E, 27 La.Inf. En. New Orleans, LA, March 14, 186_. (This from LA Confederate Soldiers, Vol 3, Bk 2, pg. 1141). The son and only surviving child of this couple was Isaac Edmond Wise, b. 28 July 1862, d. 3 May 1932. A copy of Isaac's Death Certificate shows that his parents were Daniel Wise, b. New York, and Martha Wilder, b. Louisiana. I have never been to place Daniel with any family of Claiborne Parish and would appreciate any help and willing to trade any information I have. I have been told by a family member that Daniel Wise was a silversmith in PA before coming to LA, but I have no proof of this. Doris (Newcomb) McMurchy
Robbie, I am interested in learning more about your WISE line. Can you tell me anything about Thomas WISE, Sarah's brother? When you last posted about this family you did not mention a Thomas. Did you just learn of him recently? How? What county in eastern PA did these WISEs come from? Luzerne? Where exactly is Fry corner? How far from Mercer? In the 1850 Mercer Co. census, Hickory Twp., Stephen and Sarah FRY and a 3-month old John FRY are living with John and Mary M. WISE. I am assuming this John is Sarah's father. Would Mary M. be his second wife? Sorry, list members--I thought I sent that last message to Jim Wise personally....AHB
Hello again, Jim-- No, as far as I know, these desc. of James and Permelia Wise of SC went to Copiah Co. MS and Claiborne Parish LA--then some on the TX and OK. It turns out that Frances Dilley, whom I was trying to reach since she'd mis-typed her e-mail address and showed two different ones, is the sister of a lady in TN with whom I already correspond. Good luck in your research. Ann Harper Bonner in north LA

The following is what little I have on my line: 1-Thomas WISE (-) sp: Matilda (-) 2-Charles Lyman WISE (3 Jan 1858-6 Feb 1920) sp: Elizabeth GREGGS (15 Jun 1862-10 Aug 1927) 3-Matilda Charlotte WISE (25 Jun 1880-16 Dec 1955) 3-John Thomas WISE (31 Dec 1881-2 Dec 1944) 3-William R. I am not too sure about Thomas and Matilda. Those names came from Charles Lyman WISE's death certificate. Ann, if you think any of your WISE family went to Mercer Co., PA let me know. In that case I would definitely like to see your file. Jim
Dear Group, I am a somewhat quiet member, but I have decided to ask for help. I am researching David S. Wise of SC. If anyone has any idea that they can help me let me know. David Dangerfield fdangerfield@infoave.net
I just posted a reply to the list and to Frances Dilley personally. Frances, yours came back. I tried the other address from your note. Please let me know your correct e-mail address. Thanks...Ann
Hello Frances and any other descendants of James Wise & Permelia Miller! And Jim Wise, too--are you part of this family?? There are about 15 of us [that I know of] who are researching this line. Somewhere there are surely many others! At least one other one is from Ambrose's line. Some from David, Adah, and Joseph F. Wise. I've just put together a list of these researchers and sent them my line's family group sheets of James Wise, Joseph F. Wise, George Grundy Wise, & Henrietta Ford Wise [my grandmother]--and encouraged all to send their family group sheets. I'll compile a joint report with references to "who said what." I use Family Origins. Some folks can exchange GEDCOMs, I'm sure. PLEASE let me hear from you via personal e-mail, letting me know your address and phone #; I'll mail you the packet I sent everyone else. Ann Harper Bonner gbonner@cbt.net

I'm researching a group of Wises that settled in Butts and Jasper counties in Georgia in the early 19th century, and I'd like to share information with anyone else looking at these Wises and relations: Joseph Wise b.ca 1830 and d.3/05/1905, Augustus Wise d.ca1885, and Jim Wise b 1875 and d.ca 1951. To date I've garnered information from the relevant censuses via microfilm at the University of Georgia, found a few marriage dates, and I lack only certain birth dates and specifics regarding parantage, along with some anecdotal information. Matthew died Sept.. 1881 in Nodaway County, Missouri of peritonitis. Benjamin was a minister. He married Martha J. __________, 6/6/1873-3/30/1954. They had five children: David Earl, Franklin Elbert, Alfred, Lula [married _____ Frailey], Rose [married _______ Anderson]. All or most lived and died around Hardy AR.
