Hello again, Looking further into my index, I find 3 references for 'Lizzie Wise'. Maybe one of these will ring a bell for someone. First - Lizzie Wise (daughter of Harvey Wise b. 1833 in Watauga County N.C.) - one of six children - married a gentleman with the last name of Bennett. Second - Lizzie Wise (daughter of Corneleus Wise and Susan Ward) - one of eight children - married a gentleman with the last name of Ledford. Third - Eva Lizzie Wize b. February 24, 1882 in N.C. d. 1967; daughter of Calvin H. Wise (b. in N.C.) and Grazilda Isadora Barrier (b. July 5, 1857 in N.C. d. December 27, 1929); one of three children. Hope this helps. Hello, Your post caught my attention. In my search for information regarding my ancestor Tom Wise, married to Patty Wilson in N.C. I ran across information regarding Mary Clara Wise married to Phillip Coulter in Rowan County N.C.. Since I have recently moved, I'll have to look for the information (I think I know where it probably is, I just haven't unpacked it all yet). Post me back if you are interested. BTW, Tom Wise and Patty Wilson are as far back as I have been able to locate. I believe they were married in Burke County, N.C. on October 4, 1830 and had 11 children (if my grandmother's notes are correct). My great- grandmother was Eva Lizzie Wise born in N.C. on February 24, 1882 - died 1967. Let me know. Doug Seelen

I have a Samuel Wise born circa 1840 in Penn. Possibly brother to Harvey Wise. Married Eliza Ann Hartzler in MO. They both died in Oklahoma. Children included Mary, Ida, William Henry, James, Sarah, John Charles "Charlie" b 1873, Arthur, Effie and Earl. Possibly a Clyde in there somewhere, too. Anybody have a connection? Hi all, I located the Illustrated Album It was published by Moss & Brother Publishers, Philadelphia Under that in faint blue letters :L.N. Rosenthal's hth. Philad 4 In the album are drawn name cards where people wrote their names inside: E.L. WELLS; C.L. HAWKEL (?); H.N. (can't make out the last part); W.D. MATTHEWS; W.G. CROFT; W.N. HAWKS (or HANKS). There is a poem to "Lizzie" by Ruth J.(?) PEABODY/ Columbus, June 11th, 1858: Hast seen the sun, at early morn,/ In majesty arise;/Seen him his trackless course pursue/On through the cloudless skies;/And his last soft, effulgent rays/Steal gently from thy fixed gaze? This may thy life, sweet Lizzie, be/A cloudless summer day,/ May happiness , and peace, and love,/ Attend thee on thy way;/ Gently as steal the shades of even,/ Thy spirit win its way to heaven. Another entry in the album reads: To Miss Lizzie "Theres not an hour of day, or dreaming night but I am with thee Theres not a breeze but whispers of thy name and not a flower beneath the sun but in its fragrance tells a tale -of thee" C. Love Not Springs July 24th, 1858 Anyone related to this lady please contact me. Either she or a desc. moved to Beaumont ,TX I found this in a rent house attic about 30yrs ago. If someone had something like this which belonged to one of my ancestors, I would love to have it back. Thanks to the list... Sherry--Beaumont, TX
Charles (Charley) WISE d 18 Oct 1920. Not sure who this is but this entry appears in a diary belonging to my grandmother. May be a son of a George W. WISE; probably in the southwestern portion of Pennsylvania or possible in eastern Ohio. Anyone recognize him? Beverly
At 12:45 AM 7/19/98 EDT, you wrote: >Sherry, > Do you have any Charles Wise's in your line? Amy Amy--I saw your posting on the WISE mailing list on Rootsweb. I have four Charles WISEs in my database: Charles Washington WISE (my ggrandfather) b. 10 Dec 1840 Macon, Missouri, d. 10 Apr 1921, Lookeba, Oklahoma, s/o Thomas Jefferson WISE and Gabriella HALL, m. 1866 Louisa Catherine HALL, his first cousin and my ggrandmother. Charles W. (THOMAS) WISE, b. bf. 1866, s/o Louisa Catherine HALL above by her first marriage to Charley THOMAS. Family lore says he adopted the WISE surname on his own because he wanted nothing to do with his father. Charles Mattis WISE, b. 8 Jun 1833, Fleming, Kentucky, s/o John WISE (My ggggrandfather) and Mary Ann PRATHER (John's second wife). Charles Lewis WISE (brother of John above), b. 1812, d. 1877, s/o Adam WISE, Jr. and Mary (Polly) THOMAS, m. Suzannah E. ABELL. I also have a letter written to my late aunt Felicia Lois GROAT by a C. H. WISE in 1935 from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I'm not sure where this person fits. He refers to my aunt as his niece, which would make him my grandmother's brother. The only brother my grandmother had with the first initial 'C' was Charles W. above, who was her half brother. That would make the middle initial 'W' incorrect. This C. H. refers to a daughter (or wife?) Margaret and a daughter nicknamed "Babe," who was training to be a nurse. Please let me know if any of these Charleses is the one you seek. Hi again Sally - Thanks for the reply and the offer about the Ellis family. My husbands family have a book on their family and I believe it was done about 30 or so years ago. Kenne
I must apologize to everyone because I personally have no "Wise" in my family lines but I am very intent on locating the descendants of this lady. I found a "graduation album" when I was 15 (I'm 44 now) and I've hung on to it all these years thinking I would find someone who was a desc. here in Beaumont, TX . The oldest date in the album is 1853 so that would make it almost 145 yrs old!! The reason I was looking here is because I found it in the attic of a rent house (you know how kids go snooping!). I have the album put up but will try to find where I put it. I had a fire in '96' and what didn't burn , I put in a storage unit. My grandmother passed away in March and I'm living in her house with her things and my things and it is a mess here! I will see who all signed her book. Sorry for the l-o-n-g answer Amy. Again, any and all assistance is greatly appreciated. I hope to hear from some cousins out there. Thank you, Dianne dianne@perigee.net
Sherry, Do you have any Charles Wise's in your line? Amy
Hello SallyAnne, What I have is a "graduation Album". The Inscription reads "To Miss Lizzy Wise" but her name probably was Elizabeth. There are many poems written in there to her and she must have been a very pretty and nice lady because there are really nice things written to her. The oldest poem in the book is from "George, Columbus, Ohio 1853". I found this book in the attic of a large house my mother rented when I was about 15 yrs. old here in Beaumont, TX. I have no idea where it came from or how long it had been there. Being at least 145 yrs. old, it is not in the best of condition and the ink is beging to fade on some of the poems. I offered it to the local historical library but they were not interested. I thought they would be better equiped to care for it. Now I have it in two gal size plastic bags trying to preserve it. My house burned in 96' and I lost alot of things which can never be replaced but the book came out ok! Right now, I have it put up so I will have to hunt to find it. Sherry,

Hi Kenne Ellis, Small world! I don't believe any of the Wise's had roots in Virginia, but you never know. As far back as I have traced, they are from Ohio, mostly Mansfield. BTW also, since your last name is Ellis, I have ENORMOUS amounts of info on the Ellis ancestry if you should be interested. Ellis is my married name. Hello Sherry, I have been researching my Wise side of the family, and they are all from Mansfield, and Cleveland, Ohio. I have not yet found a Lizzy, but I am still researching. Do you have any other information regarding the object that you have found? Any other names associated with it?
